Private room in Sabruna Sth Jakarta
Description
This is the main bedroom, upstairs; a very large room with a king size bed, opening onto a private garden. There's an exclusive ensuite shower, and also a bathroom shared with the other upstairs bedroom. The space Open, airy, spacious, shady, with views of river and forest. Our guests can't believe they're in the middle of a city of ten million people... Guest access Natural Swimming Pond. We've built a eco-pool on the river bank below the house. The pool water is filtered through sand, gravel and plants. There are fish in the pool to eat the algae and mosquito wrigglers. The fish hide away whenever anyone enters the pool. Verandas. The upstairs veranda, which is exclusive to this bedroom, has its own lawn, vege garden and orchid collection. The dowstairs veranda has a day bed, table and chairs, and overlooks the Ciliwung River. Kitchen. Open plan kitchen with dining table. Loungeroom and Workspace. In the main room downstairs. During your stay My partner, Avi or I stay in the house for a few days each month. Our house manager, Mbak Tyas, stays in the house, and will usually be there to greet you, arrange breakfast etc. Her English is excellent. Other things to note Filtered water. All water for the house comes from a well. We filter this water for drinking through Pureit, a four-stage filter system that cleans the water to World Health Organisation standards. No Air Conditioning. The house does not have air conditioning. Being close to a river and surrounded by plants and trees, the house is cooler than other parts of Jakarta. There are fans in each bedroom and on the veranda. Noise. Like most places in Jakarta, Sabruna is only a few hundred meters from several mosques. The first call to prayer is at 4.30 AM, when it is still dark outside. Extra noise. One Monday evening each month, the local mosque has a gathering to which hundreds come. The prayers and songs are broadcast at high volume, typically from 7 to 11 pm. On such occasions, we resort to earplugs, and we have some on hand for guests if you need them.
