Welcome to our Little Mansion! Built in 1912 for famed Arctic explorer George Carr, our historic Mansion Over the Hilltop retains its original charm but has been updated to include all the modern conveniences. The home has been set up for your personal rest and restoration to optimize your ability to meet the demands of each work day. We house a maximum of 3 guests at one time; each has a private bedroom and bathroom plus access to four floors of shared space. The space The Space: Bedrooms: 1. CARR SUITE- Bright, south facing room with oversized luxurious furniture. Located on the second floor. 2. Cherry Wood Room- (Another listing) North facing room, overlooking the back yard and patio. This room has rich redwood tones and a sleigh bed. Located on the second floor. 3. The Nest - (another listing) Nestled in the treetops, this third floor room has microwave, mini fridge, an attached dressing room and a detached full bathroom complete with skylight! The Second Floor Kitchenette: includes a dining table, fridge, hotplate, microwave, dishwasher and coffee maker. We try to have all the basic cookware, flatware and cutlery as well as coffee and tea. Bathrooms: There is a well mirrored 4 piece bathroom between the second-floor bedrooms and a half bath located off the kitchenette. Sun room: Large north, east and south facing windows make this a wonderful place to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea before and after shifts. Canada Room: Step into the past...write a real letter at the big antique desk, cozy up to the fireplace (electric) or or bring your laptop and enjoy a modern office space! Main floor: Main kitchen: A fully equipped kitchen including fridge/freezer, ice and cold water dispenser, cook top and wall oven, storage for groceries, pots, pans, numerous small appliances, coffee and tea. Another half bath off the main kitchen. Formal sitting room: Formal in 1912 but today is both a sitting room with wood burning fireplace and a music room offering a five pedal piano, a pump organ as well as other musical novelties. This room is for you to enjoy! A formal dining room with a door to the huge 600 sq. ft. deck, complete with outdoor kitchen, gas BBQ, lounge chairs and patio table. Laundry facilities available 24/7 for our guests. Free of course. The main office is where we, your hosts, live and work when we are at the residence. We aim to be available for your needs without interrupting your day/night. Downstairs Lounge with relining chairs, 58" smart TV. Snack Bar with a mini fridge and sink. Spa: Sauna and jet tub/shower, toilet and sink. Exercise room: elliptical, stationary bicycle, exercise ball and mats. (This room is under construction at the moment; however, these items can be made available upon request.) Outside 2-3 off street parking spaces with plug ins as needed. Enjoy scenic walks in this historic neighborhood. Diefenbaker House is two doors down! Shopping, restaurants and the hospital are nearby. Guest access Guest access You have access to your bedroom as well as to four floors of communal living space- a maximum of three guests at one time in the home and 5000 square feet of living space! During your stay Most days we are available.
