Filyra - Ground floor

Filyra guesthouse is a 2-floor stone, rustic mansion, built in 1915 and fully restored in 2013. Its outer walls are 1 m thick, keeping the inside cool in summer. It consists of two apartments, one on the ground floor and one on the 1st floor, 75 m2 each. Each one has its own entrance, bathroom and kitchen. They have a view of the Aegean Sea. They are surrounded by a flower garden and an organic vegetable garden, and there is an area with grass and a free parking space. The space Filyra's Ground Floor is the ideal combination of mountain and sea for those who are seeking for quality holidays, either as a couple or as a family. It has the advantage of no stairs, whilst it has a really grand view to the sea, and it gives the feeling that it is part of the garden and the yard, where there is a vast grass area and an organic vegetable garden plus a flower garden. So, you can experience and come in touch with the smells and colours of amazing mount Pelion. This is an independent, through-lot, autonomous, cool apartment. In front of it there is a vast green area, full of trees and fragrant flowers and it has a view to the blue Aegean sea. It's so quiet that you can hear the birds singing. It is one minute away, on foot, from the parking space of the main square, which has an amazing view and a big plane tree. At the square you can find 2 taverns with excellent food, coffee and drinks. The 75 m2 space is open-plan. There is a double bed and two single beds, a fireplace, a living room with a TV set, airconditioning and a dining table. The apartment also consists of a bathroom and a big kitchen, fully equipped with a cooker and a microwave oven. The pictures on the wall have been painted by the host himself. The yard in front of the main entrance is a great advantage as you are going to spend a lot of time there. Nobody can keep himself away from such a pleasure! The place can accommodate 4 people. Guest access The yard is accessible to all the visitors, any time of the day. The flower beds are full of fragrant, colorful flowers, the patio is awaiting you, the organic garden is accessible to everyone and everyone can pick up fresh vegetables for their salad. The apartment offers free parking space, something that contributes to relaxing, safe, carefree, quality holidays. Other things to note Filyra guesthouse also offers a studio, which is in the same yard beside the gate of the garden. For your convenience, the baker drops by 3 times a week, the fisherman and the greengrocer almost every day, while some of the permanent residents sell eggs, fresh fruits and vegetables, depending on the season and the availability. The whole village is great for relaxing and swimming, and there are many other options such as walking along the paths, hiking, horse riding and mountain biking. Kalamaki is located in south Pelion. It has a traditional character, as all the houses have roofs made from locally quarried stone slabs (the famous Pelion slabs), and the paths are also paved with these slabs. Those slabs also roof all the monasteries in the Holy Mount Athos. On the beach of the village, called Kalamaki, there is a spring of high quality, fresh water. In the past, passers-by used a straw to drink this water. That's why the beach was named Kalamaki (the greek word for straw is "kalamaki"), and later the whole village took the same name. The first name of the village was Propan, a name given to it because of the location of the village, as it is the first village of Pelion which can see the sun rise early in the morning (Pro = before and pan = everybody else). It is a rather privileged village as it connects all the picturesque beaches of South Pelion with the village of Tsagarada and the beaches that exist after it.
