Dar Dauia is a 200+ year old small family house located in the heart of Chefchaouen’s Old Medina. Like the other traditional houses, its structure is a labyrinth limited to the mountain itself which forces a compacted and irregular construction as a honeycomb in a fascinating architectural swarm. The space PLEASE BE AWARE that we charge per person and NOT per room. Once we rent to you we will NOT rent-out any other room to other guests; this way you and your group will have the whole space privately for yourselves Dar Dauia is a house with all the necessary comfort in an archaic skeleton. We don’t want anyone to be disappointed during their stay in our house, so there are some indications: The kitchen is Private and only for the exclusive use of the Hosts. We have heaters and fans but NO Air Conditioning in the bed rooms. The traditional construction of rock and adobe linked to the mountain with walls of more than 20 cm. thick, allows us to achieve a perfect and natural insulation during winter and summer. Two of our bedrooms do not have exterior windows. To the aforementioned climatological reasons we must add sound reasons; the proximity to the neighbors and mosques isolates these “cave rooms” from street noise, calls to prayer (the first one is at dawn), neighborhood talk and a long etc. ... and if all this overwhelming logic does not convince you, there are cultural reasons… remember that the bedroom is a place to disconnect and rest and that is only possible by leaving out anything that distracts us from such need. The house is in the high part of the center of the Medina and you have to climb 63 steps to reach it, but the effort is rewarded with spectacular views of the Medina, the town, the mountains and a huge and exciting sky. The space is distributed as follows: Ground Floor: - 1 living room - 3 bedrooms - 1 bathroom - 1 WC First Floor: - 1 bedroom with private bathroom and toilet - Terrace with a view overlooking the city and mountain - Private kitchen ( The kitchen is Private and only for the exclusive use of the Hosts.) Second Floor: - Common solarium with a Air conditioner Ground Floor: - There is a fireplace in the living room and a corner with a kettle for tea and coffee, as well as some table games and books. The bathroom is divided into two parts. Toilet. The toilet is in one room and the shower and toilet are in a separate room. Shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, aftershave, hair dryer, heater, and towels are provided. # Room 1 has two double beds, accommodating four people. # Room 2 has one queen-size bed, accommodating two people. # Room 3 has one double bed, accommodating two people. # Room 4 has one queen-size bed, accommodating two people, and an integrated private bathroom. Guest access - Breakfast Included - WiFi available - Laundry charge: 50 Dirham per load Other things to note Chefchaouen deserves a couple of days stay so you can literally get lost in its unique streets and many shops. It is also very interesting to devote another day visiting Akchour at the Talassemtane National Park, (only a 45 minute drive) to enjoy nature at its purest state… a lasting memory for children and adults. For the more adventurous, there are trekking routes across the mountains which can last from 1 to 5 days. Guides and lodges available in situ.
