Family Friendly House - Downtown Location!

Entire house in ideal downtown location with easy access to bike path. Walk to Lake Mendota/Tenney Park in less than 5 minutes. Capitol building, Monona Terrace, and UW campus are less than 10 minutes away via car or bike. 20+ restaurants/bars minutes away. The space Our house is 100+ years old so expect character - wood floors, fireplace (firewood provided), creaky stairs, but also some modern amenities - central A/C, fast internet (500mbps), hot tub, and good water pressure. Sleeping arrangements include 3 bedrooms upstairs - queen, queen, bunk beds. The 4th bedroom is a den/kid space on the main level with curtained french doors to the dining room and a queen size murphy bed. The attic playroom can be used as a 5th sleeping space with queen bed (see notes on this room below). We live here full time with three young kids. We only rent out our house a limited number of days per year, usually during big weekends in Madison, which is why our listing price is quite high (sorry!). While we're happy to rent our place out, it does involve some real effort on our part (ask any parent about their toddler cleanup war stories - and don't be surprised to find some "artwork" on a bedroom wall). Our personal belongings will be present in the house but we try to clear away most of the kid stuff and do deep clean the house before your arrival. If you have any concerns before booking, I'm happy to address them. Our house is fully licensed by the city of Madison's Health Department (LICHMD-2017-00725) and Zoning Department (ZTRHP1-2021-00070) so your reservation won't be cancelled for crackdowns on short term rentals. Madison limits Airbnb rentals to owner occupied properties only and a maximum 30 rental days per year (this is a major reason why Madison is a relatively limited and expensive rental market). Guest access Feel free to borrow anything we've left behind, the entire house is accessible. Washer/dryer in basement. Canoes/kayak/bikes can also be made available by request. The confirmation will include a link to the house manual with just about everything you could need to know. Other things to note Regarding the "5th bedroom" - this is a playroom in the attic with a queen mattress on the floor. The ceiling is only 5' tall at most and accessed with a very steep stairwell. I recommend this room for children only though fine for adults that don't mind walking hunched over. Legally, you can bring 10 adults just keep in mind we only have one shower/bathtub. Our neighbors (and their young children) do not appreciate loud parties. Large groups that can entertain themselves at reasonable hours and noise levels when outside are fine, but if you're a rowdy group, our place isn't for you.
