Description

Water Meadow Cottage. A gorgeous 3-bedroom house, comfortably sleeping 6, ideal for families and anyone to unwind in all seasons. With a private south-facing garden full of flowers and birds, and secluded patio with delightful views across meadows. The stunning living room with original beams and bright windows is inviting in summer, and so cosy in winter with its wood-burning stove. Nestled in beautiful quiet countryside, a short drive from the coast, and Aldeburgh, Thorpeness, Orford. The space This pretty 16th century cottage is Grade II listed, with a modern extension, offering comfortable family accommodation. There are beautiful oak beams in the original rooms - the living room and the two double bedrooms. The light, airy layout includes a big kitchen and a spacious sitting room with wood-burning stove. Upstairs, there are two double bedrooms, one twin bedroom and a new bathroom, all with peaceful countryside views. All bedrooms have high thread count Egyptian cotton bedding and plump feather pillows and duvets. (If you have an allergy to feather bedding, you may want to bring your own.) To the rear of the cottage is a long lawned garden with fruit trees and wild flowers. To the front is another lawned garden and ample parking on the gravel drive. Surrounded by fields on three sides, the cottage is ideal for families and nature lovers. The garden is fenced and safe for children. You may the white barn owl hunting in the meadow at the bottom of the garden. At night, the sky is often amazingly starry. In winter, the gorgeous East Anglian light, far-reaching views, and the smell of woodsmoke, all make it a perfect getaway. The firewood is included at no extra cost. There are short, medium and long walks - for all sizes and ages of legs - right from the door. In a small hamlet, it's a very quiet location. A car is recommended and there's plenty of room to park on the drive. The nearest pub is a 25 minute walk across countryside. You may want to bring your own bicycles. The cottage has WiFi and an HD Smart TV with Free-sat, a Blu-Ray/DVD player, and a growing collection of great films. There are 50 Penguin Classics on the bookshelf! And a guitar and an upright piano. Perfect for a cosy evening, after a big day. Guest access You will have the cottage and private gardens to yourselves. Other things to note A beautiful white barn owl moved into the owl house we made and put up at the end of the garden a few years ago. It's very cautious and shy and therefore it's hugely exciting if you catch a glimpse! The house is heated in winter by the wood burning stove in the living room. It heats the radiators around the house, and the hot water (although there's an electric immersion as a back up). We supply all the wood you need and it's very satisfying heating the house this way but requires some effort and a bit of skill - quickly learned if you're new to it. If you're not sure about this or have questions, please get in touch. The stairs are quite steep and winding, not suitable for people with accessibility needs. There's a low doorframe to the upstairs bathroom, and bedroom 2, to be wary of - this is an old cottage! Bedroom sizes: Bedroom 1 - 4x3m approx Bedroom 2 - 3x2.5m approx Bedroom 3 - 4.5x3m approx
