Chez Irene B&B (Room 2)

Chez Irene B&B is situated just outside the medieval town of Mirepoix on the edge of a quiet village. This is the second of two rooms available for Bed & Breakfast and shares a guest bathroom. It has a double bed, ample storage and faces north with a nice view of La Tour. (see https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/12788052?preview=&sug=50 to view room 1). There is a large south facing patio with a shared dining area. Guests are welcome to use the above ground pool and decking area until 7pm. The space Chez Irene is in a peaceful location just outside the medieval town of Mirepoix. It is situated at the end of a driveway off a country lane where there is ample parking for guests. The entrance is up six steps onto a sunny east facing patio, perfect for morning coffee. Once inside you will be welcomed to a house full of character and charm. Guest access Guests are welcome to use the patio, garden and pool (*). Breakfast will be served in the dining room or on the patio. Bikes can be stored in the garage if advance notice is given. * The above ground plunge pool is available in July, August and September. During your stay A complimentary drink will welcome you to my home and, after showing you around, I will happily spend some time chatting about the area - my favourite places to visit, restaurants to try and what is happening locally with regard to markets, fetes, festivals and concerts. Other things to note There are two beautiful chateaux nearby which host weddings and music events - Chateau de Queille is 5 minutes away and the Abbaye-Chateau de Camon 15 minutes. Mirepoix is a 10 minute drive. It is full of character, has several bars and restaurants and is a wonderful place to soak up the relaxed atmosphere of the Ariege. Market day is Monday and there is an abundance of excellent local produce on sale. In the other direction are the beauty spots of Lac Montbel (15 minutes), Montsegur (40 minutes) and Roquefixade (30 minutes). All are good places to picnic or, if you prefer, Montbel has a few snack bars and there are several restaurants in Montsegur and one in Roquefixade. In winter there are a number of ski resorts to choose from - Mont D'Olmes (45 minutes) and Ax-Les-Thermes (60 minutes) are the most accessible from here.
