The space We are a family of three , owned by two cocker spaniels. We love having people over from all walks of life and we welcome you to our home. Ours is an air conditioned studio apartment on the 3rd floor roughly 300 sq ft in size. It comes with a double bed - just right for two people or a single traveler. The studio has an attached bath/toilet with 24 hours hot and cold water , a kitchenette with a refrigerator, microwave, to store and warm your food. In a cozy nook rests a dinette area for two. Bright and well lit, it has a separate work desk and chair and complimentary Wifi internet is available. When you want to put your feet up and relax , there is a LCD television with a D2H connection and comfortable seating. A guided meditation session can be arranged if informed in advance. For guests who want to stay with us longer ,please feel free to use the washing machine located in the utility area adjoining the roof. Guests have roof access and its quite an experience savoring a hot cup of tea surrounded by over 100 potted plants. Our little patch of green in this concrete jungle. Location : The Studio apartment is conveniently placed in the Gariahat- Ballygunge area, one of the main roads of south kolkata. It is famous for its retail market for Saris and hand loom materials. Many shopping complexes and state govt. emporiums are located nearby. Tucked away in a private road you are just away enough to escape the traffic. A 5 min walk takes you to the Rabindra Sarover lakes, a must go for joggers and early risers. 10 kms away from the Howrah Station (30 mins on a good day) and 20 kms from the airport (45 mins thanks to the bypass). If you need access to the IT hub , its only 40 mins away. Easily accessible by buses, taxis and auto's ( India's version of the TukTuk ) are available all day. The Kali ghat Metro station is a 5 mins auto ride away , and it takes you to the down town and central business district in 10 mins. If you want to soak in some history take a 15 mins ride on the Metro to North Calcutta. The area is an epicurean delight and a foodies paradise, Over the years mid range restaurants sprang up in every nook and cranny of the street. Chinese remains the most popular followed by North Indian and Italian cuisine. If stomach permits try the best street food in Kolkata here. All restaurants also deliver food and the kitchenette has a good collection of Menu cards. But If you crave a traditional Bengali meal look no further than our kitchen. If you are staying for four days or more we invite you for a complimentary traditional Bengali meal with our family. Our expert cooks also gives lessons. About us : We live in the main house which is on the same floor but has a separate entrance. We are a family with wanderlust and are well travelled and cross culturally seasoned. Many of the artifacts around the house have been collected by me during our travels around the world. I am an ex airline manager now a meditation teacher. My husband is a management consultant and our daughter is a sociologist working in the public health sector. We are all owned by two super friendly cocker spaniels , Goopy and Bagha. As a rule they do not venture into the studio apartment but if guests are uncomfortable then they can be restricted to the main house. However, we admit to like pet lovers more. Our staff is trustworthy and efficient and most of them have been with us for decades.We hope you enter as strangers and leave as friends. Guest access to the Terrace . Other things to note 1. We prefer outstation/ overseas guests. 2. We are not here to judge but strictly No Drugs and alcohol please. 3. All additional expenses like airport transfer , laundry etc to be paid in cash. 4.
