Once on the island, you can use local Dolmuş (shared taxis) or regular taxis. Ferries also connect Marmara Island to neighboring islands such as Avşa and Paşalimanı. History and Culture: Marmara Island boasts over 6,000 years of history, having been inhabited by Romans, Byzantines, and Ottomans. Before the 1923 population exchange between Greece and Turkey, Greek Orthodox, Turkish, and Jewish communities lived here. Despite a severe earthquake in 1935, some old houses, like the Ali Özkan House, remain, showcasing the island's historical architecture.
