Fosterton House
Fosterton House
Description
A great place to gather with friends and/or family for a few days or a week, as Fosterton House offers beautiful, artistic accommodation for 10-14 people set on 100 acres overlooking the Barrington Tops. Relax together: walk, play, read, picnic, swim in the modern pool or nearby in the flowing Williams River. At night you can enjoy the stars around your firepit. In the house there are plenty of places to gather or spend some quiet time alone. Set up for 10 with extras on a sofa & day bed. The space Each of the 5 rooms has a different feel: the King room (with a king bed of course), the queen room, the rainforest room, the oriental room & the single room. The lounge room shuts off from the large dining area & the extra play room (where the pull out bed is located). One bathroom has a spa bath with a shower over it and there is a solar hot water system, with a booster switch in the pantry. A half hour will reheat the water on those overcast or wintery days, so there is always plenty to go round. A variety of native birds frolic and feed in the surrounding bush-land or on the grass near the house. With a wrap around verandah, (an Australian specialty) & a gazebo, there are plenty of places to sit to enjoy the views, the group you are with or some peace and quiet. Three labyrinths on the property: the 11 circuit, the 5 circuit or the wild one amongst the ironbark trees allow meditative walks for experiential reflection. Four short, but moderate walks are available through the 100 acres, allowing you to explore different eco-systems and if lucky, you might spot our local koalas or the very fast golden whistler. Guest access Fosterton House is reached via all weather roads. The Fosterton Loop is well signposted and forms part of the network of tourist drives in the area. If there has been prolonged and heavy rain or flooding in the area the Fosterton Bridge at Newells Crossing might be closed, but there is another way to our property. If you need this we will send those details to you. Other things to note Dungog is a high rainfall area but whenever staying in the country and planning to have a fire it is important to check the local conditions. Search Search 'NSW Rural Fire Service- Fire danger ratings and total fire bans' for current fire bans- we are zone 3. As you use the wider 100 acres, be aware there are another 2 small cabins on the property, but they are set out in a way to provide privacy. The pool is exclusively for and behind the house, out of view of the cabins. Picnic blankets and picnic gear are provided for use on the property or down by the river.
