Situated opposite the Bath & West showground and next to the village of Pilton, where Glastonbury Festival takes place. 300 yards away is renowned farm shop John Thorners. 6 miles away is Bruton for fine dining, cafes, the Hauser & Wirth Gallery, shops and boutiques. Glastonbury town is just 9 miles away. England’s smallest city - Wells, is 6 miles away. The space This is a double room within a chalet building in our private family courtyard. There is an en-suite bathroom with shower and tea / coffee facilities. Outside your room is an enclosed courtyard and beyond that is our family garden which you have access to. Breakfast can be provided by John Thorners Farm Shop Restaurant, which is around 300 yards away. They serve the breakfast menu from 8am - 11.30 (9am start on Sundays). They also have an all day breakfast available after this time. Booking is recommended. We can also accommodate 1 baby or small child in this room if you’re travelling with your little one. We have 4 children of our own so can provide the essentials you may need. There is ample free parking. And a large garden surrounded by open fields. There are several public foot paths to walk around the area too. It is very well situated to visit an array of Somerset attractions, walks and beauty spots. Portman house, is a Georgian property originally built by William Portman as a home for his estate manager. In the 1800s with the opening of Pylle railway station, it became a hotel, and in more recent years, it was a pub. It is now our family home and we are taking time to renovate and restore it to its former glory. Other things to note This private room is based in the courtyard behind our family home. We live here with our children and little dog, Doris. There is plenty of space here though and you won’t be disturbed by the hustle and bustle of our home. WIFI: Whilst we offer WiFi for our guests to power the TV apps etc. Please note that we live in rural Somerset and the service / speed of the WiFi will not be the same as you are used to in a large town or city. PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU ARE PLANNING A VISIT AT THE END OF JUNE FROM 20th - 30th, THIS IS GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL WEEK AND UNLESS YOU ARE ATTENDING THE FESTIVAL WE RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT BOOK. 250,000 people descend on the area in that week and unless you’re going to the festival, which is in walking distance from us, you will not be able to get anywhere by car due to intense traffic.
