Description

Railtown Supply & Retreat’s newest renovation is a stylish 4 bedroom 2 bath cottage nestled in heart of Laramie's iconic tree area, just a four-minute walk to campus, and 10-15 minutes walk to downtown. The property showcases the best of Laramie, marrying historic architecture with Modern West design. Guests are invited to "shop the house" via a virtual store, sponsored by Minoan, featuring national brands alongside locally-sourced housewares and furnishings. The space WELCOME TO RAILTOWN RETREAT’S Tree Area Classic—an elevated stay that lands somewhere between home and boutique hotel. WELCOME TO RAILTOWN RETREAT'S TREE AREA CLASSIC — an elevated stay that lands somewhere between home and boutique hotel. Built in 1919, this bungalow has been part of Laramie's most beloved neighborhood for over a century. We don't know every story these walls have held — the students, the families, the professors, the slow Saturday mornings — but we've done our best to honor them. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms, modern updates, and a hundred years of good bones. Just minutes from the gateway to the University of Wyoming campus in Laramie's iconic Tree Area, the Classic is a prime basecamp for campus visitors and outdoor adventurers alike. UW parents visiting their students are our jam — so are visiting researchers, lecturers, art lovers, and weekend adventurers. From locally roasted coffee for slow mornings to cozy corners for reading, the Tree Area Classic is set up to make you feel instantly at home. IS THIS THE RIGHT PLACE FOR YOU? We ask this with a lot of love. If you need every room to match, if you're put off by a house that's mid-renovation, if you want a TV in every living space, if you want the predictability of a hotel — there are great options in Laramie, and we genuinely hope you find the right one. But if you appreciate a home that has housed a century of Laramie life, if you'd rather have four bedrooms with character than four identical hotel rooms, if your group is the kind that ends up around a table talking until midnight, the Tree Area Classic was made for you. This is a home for friends and families who want to connect over a vintage record collection, not splash in a pool or line up for a self-serve breakfast with other groggy travelers. For groups of friends who want space to spread out and a kitchen that actually works. For anyone who believes that a 1919 bungalow with good bones, great bedding, and locally roasted coffee in the morning is exactly the right amount of luxury. It's a work in progress — we'll be honest about that. But the bones are solid, the beds are excellent, and the welcome is genuine. If that sounds like your kind of trip, we'd love to have you. Now let's talk about what we've put together for you. COOKING & EATING Just a 5-minute drive or 15-minute walk from some of Laramie's best restaurants, bars, bakeries, and coffee shops — think vegan dishes that even hearty carnivores love and pain au chocolat worth writing home about — many guests still find themselves preferring to stay in. If that's you, you'll have everything you need: • Olive oil & basic cooking spices • Utensils, pots/pans, toaster, blender, coffee maker, Chemex, tea kettle, milk frother, crockpot, rice cooker, and airfryer • Easy mornings: locally roasted coffee, tea, cream, sugar, honey, hot chocolate, organic oats, to-go cups • Light meals: pasta, Rao's marinara, parmesan, pesto, and olive oil • Afternoon pick-me-ups: protein bars, nuts, chocolate, fresh fruit • Hydration covered: Topo Chico + chilled filtered water • Need a specialty item? Just ask — we may have one you can borrow. Note: The dining room banquette comfortably seats 4–5; larger groups can expect some elbow-to-elbow coziness or a few guests spilling into the nearby living room. ________________________________________ RESTING & RELAXING This space was designed for serious comfort. Kick your feet up in the upstairs living room and put a record on while the kids watch movies in the vintage-inspired rec room downstairs. Whether upstairs or down, amenities include: • Large-screen TV • Vintage record collection • Record player with Bluetooth • Books + games • Cozy blankets • Indoor plants ________________________________________ SLEEPING IN Hit snooze as long as you'd like. Each room features linen duvet covers, premium cotton percale bedding, and velvet blackout curtains. With two queen beds and two full beds, the home comfortably sleeps up to eight guests. ________________________________________ BATHROOM Enjoy plush, sheet-sized towels and premium shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. We've stocked extra essentials — moisturizer, makeup remover, toothbrushes, toothpaste, lip balm — just in case. ________________________________________ LAUNDRY Whether your stay is a weekend or a couple of weeks, you'll have everything you need: washer and dryer, detergent, stain remover, iron + ironing board, and a handheld steamer — all tucked out of the way but ready when you need them. UW parents: tell your students to skip the dorm laundry room or the coin-ops while you're visiting. Just don't let them talk you into folding their laundry. 😉 NEED TO CHECK IN WITH THE OFFICE? A dedicated workspace with fast WiFi gives you the perfect spot to answer emails, plan adventures, or squeeze in a Zoom call before heading out to explore. BRINGING A DOG? Pets are accepted on a case-by-case basis. Please tell us about your dog(s) before booking. Dog bowls, treats, a lint roller, and waste bags are all provided. Note: The yard is fenced, but no Fort Knox — tiny pups or escape artists may need extra supervision. BACKYARD A private backyard with a conversation set, extra chairs, oil lamps, and plenty of blankets and pillows for three seasons of Wyoming weather. A WORK IN PROGRESS The Tree Area Classic is partway through a multi-phase renovation, so items like the driveway and back deck are on the improvement list but remain fully functional. We believe in being upfront: you'll see the vision and the progress, and we think that's part of the charm. LOCATION YOU'RE A 4–10 MINUTE WALK TO: • Main UW Campus — closest to Coe Library, Knight Hall, and the Union • UW Transit stop (easy bus to downtown) • Sunshine Bakery & Coffee in the Laramie Plains Civic Center YOU'RE A 15–20 MINUTE WALK TO: • Downtown Laramie (Big Hollow, Coal Creek, Front St./Sweet Melissa, Poppy's) • Lincoln Community Center • Territorial Prison • Laramie Greenbelt Trail YOU'RE A 5–20 MINUTE DRIVE TO: • Pilot Hill Trail System • Tie City Trail System • Vedauwoo • Fairgrounds • Laramie Airport YOU'RE 30–40 MINUTES FROM: • Curt Gowdy State Park • Centennial • Snowy Range Ski Area DOs, MAYBEs & DON'Ts PARTIES? Nope. SMALL GATHERINGS? Maybe — with permission. Inviting a couple of friends or family is totally fine; just ask first. Loud, late, high-traffic, glitter-adjacent partying is a hard no out of respect for our wonderful neighbors, hardworking cleaning crew, and future guests. ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES: • No smoking indoors • No weapons • No additional guests or pets without approval • Quiet hours: 9:00 p.m.–9:00 a.m. • Please read the cancellation policy so there are no surprises • Weather-related internet/power outages do happen in Wyoming — refunds aren't provided for these, but the space stays cozy LOOKING FOR SOMETHING SMALLER — OR WANT TO ADD A LITTLE WYOMING CHARACTER? Check out Railtown Retreat's other properties: • **Burns Market**, a beautifully restored 1920s grocery store turned 1-bedroom retreat, 5-minute walk to downtown across the iconic Garfield Street Footbridge. Perfect for couples. • **The Herder Suite at Burns Market** — same home, plus a vintage-inspired sheepwagon in the private yard. Sleeps 4. Available mid-May through mid-October. Guest access The Railtown Retreat is in the heart of it all! 4-minute walk to the main Campus (near the Knight Hall/Coe Library entrance) 10-15 minute walk to UW sports venues and art musem 10-minute walk/2 minute drive to the Gryphon Theatre 15-minute walk/3 minute drive to Downtown Laramie 20-minute walk/4-minute drive to War Memorial Stadium, Arena-Auditorium, and the amazing UW Art Museum 12-minute bike ride/6-minute drive to the Pilot Hill Trail System 15-minute drive to the Laramie Regional Airport Other things to note This property was in constructed in 1919, and although it is midway through a multi-phase renovation, it has a few of the quirks and character you'd expect in a 106-year-old home.
