A historic cabin in the heart of the Rocky Mountains is your perfect home base for any adventure. Close to Nederland and Black Hawk, this updated home reflects the rustic features mountain cabins are known for including 4 acres of private forest to explore, a wrap-around deck, 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, vaulted ceilings, wood-burning/propane stoves, fully equipped kitchen, laundry, WIFI-TV/DVD/speakers. You are sure to feel at home in our cozy cabin with plenty of nature, peace, and tranquility. Our Rivendell Mountain Cabin is the perfect place for the nature lover to have a true rustic Colorado mountain experience in this historic mining area and to retreat from the busy life of work and stress. Enjoy a private trail that starts right from the back of the cabin so you can explore our privately owned 4 acres of mountain magic. There is also plenty of hiking, fishing, biking, climbing, and skiing within minutes of our cabin. Or you can choose to just enjoy yourself by grilling, playing corn hole, sitting by the fire, and enjoying a nice drink from the wrap-around deck. Our huge deck is accessible from 3 different rooms and is our favorite place to be! The layout: The cabin is 1500 sq. ft. The first floor has a twin bed with a pull-out trundle and a full bathroom. The second floor has two bedrooms. One with a king bed and a newly updated full bathroom, and a bedroom with a bunk bed (full on bottom, twin on top) and its own private deck. Both bathrooms have a shower/tub. (We have created a fun scavenger hunt for the inside of the cabin to help you feel right at home.) We have WIFI for you, a smart television, and a soundbar to use with your streaming services. We also have a blue-ray DVD player with surround sound so bring your favorite movies or watch some of ours. Cell service in these mountains is limited, texting works best and we recommend turning on WI-FI calling. Close to the unique town of Nederland with its restaurants, shops, and festivals, as well as Golden Gate State Park, Indian Peaks Wilderness Trails, St. Mary's Glacier, Brainard Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park, and plenty of biking, fishing, hiking, white water rafting, skiing, snowshoeing, and relaxing. Every season has something to offer our guests. Spring and summer offer easy access to nature and outdoor activities. Our summer guests get to escape the heat and breathe in the fresh mountain air while enjoying being close to endless hiking trails and delicious outdoor dining options in Nederland or while attending local events like the farmer’s market. Autumn will provide you with some of the most incredible views of red, gold, yellow, and orange aspen trees that people come from all over to see. You can experience the vibrancy of the changing seasons right from your bedroom window, walk down the road, or from the scenic Peak to Peak drive which begins only a mile from the cabin. In the winter, warm up by the wood-burning stove, snowshoe right out of the door, hike on the property, watch the moose that love the pond across the road, bake in the fully stocked kitchen, or head to ski at Eldora which is only 7 miles from the cabin. Year-round you can try your luck at one of the many casinos in Black Hawk. Or take a beautiful scenic drive to Estes Park, home of Rocky Mountain National Park, or visit historic Central City and Idaho Springs. Or like so many of our guests, you may choose to simply sit on our 1000+ square foot tri-level deck and enjoy the multiple birds, butterflies, moose, and other creatures who call our neck of the woods home and just relax. *Folks of ALL backgrounds are welcome here but sorry we have a NO PET policy but can recommend boarding options that are very close to the cabin. Access to all of the main cabin and deck and the 4 acres of private forest. Outbuildings are locked and not accessible except for the little deck on the studio. We encourage our guests to enjoy this little spot in the morning where they might be lucky enough to see the moose that love our neighbors pond. We offer self check-in via keypads. I am available by cell phone and through the Airbnb app. I love answering questions and hearing how your stay is going. Stays longer than 6 nights may see our housekeeping staff come by and pick up the garbage from the side room. They will not enter the cabin. Located on four acres at the end of a county maintained road, enjoy mountain living while only four miles from downtown Nederland and fifteen minutes to Eldora Ski Resort. There is hiking directly behind the cabin which will lead up the mountain for spectacular views and many trailheads within minutes. You can also enjoy great animal and bird watching right from the deck. When you are ready to venture out you can easily explore the surrounding towns and hiking trails such as family-friendly, Lost Lake. Nederland is only a 10-minute drive and offers many family-friendly places including the Carousel of Happiness, Wild Bear Nature Center, and Blue Owl Ice Cream/Bookstore. You are also only 25 minutes from Black Hawk Casinos and fine dining and 35 minutes to Boulder. You may even want to explore the many ghost towns around Central City and Idaho Springs. We promise you, that you will not be bored. There is no public transportation from the cabin, but a bus runs from Nederland to Boulder. The cabin is located 5 miles from Nederland, 35 minutes to Boulder, about an 1.5 hours from the Denver airport and to Red Rocks, 15 minutes to skiing at Eldora Ski Resort , an hour and a half beautiful drive to Breckenridge, and 1 mile from the scenic Peak to Peak Highway, which will take you to Rocky Mountain National Park or to Black Hawk, which is known for its numerous casinos. Again, while the road is county maintained, a 4WD vehicle is necessary for the snowy months, which is between October-May. We provide a propane firepit with seating that will be available as long as there are no Gilpin county fire bans. Our cabin is a great space but also requires the ability to climb stairs to enter and enjoy the upper level bedrooms. High amounts of snow can fall from October through May in the high country. (This is a good thing and makes for some great memories in the snow.) We have the driveway plowed at no charge to the guests anytime there is over approx. 4 inches of snow. But you will still need a 4-wheel or AWD drive vehicle during these months as you may need to be on the roads before they are cleared and our driveway can be slippery. If a guest's vehicle gets stuck and or requires a tow, it will be the guest’s responsibility to remedy the situation as quickly as possible at their cost.
