We are happy to recommend nearby boarding options to ensure your furry companions are close by and are well cared for during your stay. Guest access Our Colorado mountain cabin is accessible year-round, but please note that snow can fall from October through the end of May at this elevation. (This is a good thing and makes for some great memories in the snow.) The cabin is on a plowing route for the driveway, which is cleared when there is significant snowfall (approximately 6 inches or more). Guests must have a 4WD or AWD vehicle during these months. Even after plowing, the driveway and mountain roads can be slick and require capable traction. All vehicles must be parked in the driveway, not on the road, to ensure the county plows can clear the roads and maintain access for everyone. If a vehicle becomes stuck or requires towing, guests are responsible for resolving the situation promptly and covering any associated costs. Other things to note Firepit/Fire Safety: The propane firepit is perfect for cozy nights, stargazing, and s’mores. It’s only available when Gilpin County fire ban regulations allow. Colorado fire safety comes first, so we’ll let you know if there’s a ban during your stay. Dogs: Our closest neighbor has several dogs that may be seen on the road and near the property. A 4WD or AWD vehicle is required from October through the end of May due to snow and mountain driving conditions. Pet-free: This Colorado mountain cabin is strictly pet-free to ensure a clean, allergy-friendly, and family-friendly stay. Many guests choose us for our no-pets policy. We’re happy to recommend trusted local boarding options for your furry companions. Colorado wildlife is a natural part of the experience at our mountain cabin. Moose, foxes, deer, and other animals are often seen nearby. For your safety and theirs, please observe wildlife from a distance, avoid feeding them, and stay alert when walking or driving, especially at dawn or dusk. Connectivity: While the cabin offers a secluded feel, it has reliable Wi-Fi for work or streaming. Wi-Fi calling is recommended as cell service can be limited in the area. Mountain Roads: Even outside of winter, mountain roads can be winding and narrow. Please drive carefully and allow extra time when arriving or heading out, especially after dark. Peace & Nature: Please help us protect the peaceful mountain setting. This Colorado cabin is a no-party property. Keep noise low, especially in the evenings, and follow Leave No Trace guidelines to preserve the forest for future guests.
