Luxury Forest Cabin - Horton Lodge

Our Luxury cabin is situated within the forest of Culdees Castle. A truly unique space with complete privacy. You can lie in your bed or sip champagne in the Hot tub, taking in the peaceful surroundings and watching the nature that the Scottish Highlands provides. The cabin has superb views across the estate, providing our guests with all the romance and charm you will need for an unforgettable experience. The space We pride ourselves on respecting the nature around us and have designed our unique site to nestle quietly into its surroundings. You are welcome to walk around the estate but please do respect our privacy when walking close to our home. The cabin is nestled within the woodland area of Culdees Castle so care must be taken when walking around. Our forest is a living and breathing environment where the ground can be uneven, there are often many low hanging branches and these can break and fall from time to time; please do take care. A boot rack has been provided outside of the cabin and wellies are available to purchase on request. We have provided some mood lighting around the cabin itself and most of the pathway from the parking area to the cabin is lit with sensor lighting. We do suggest though that you carry a torch around the site at night. We have wild deer and pheasants roaming around the site that are very timid. Please do remember that Culdees is their home too and be mindful of any loud noise which may startle them. If you sit quietly you may be lucky enough to watch them go about their business. We also have free range chickens and ducks and although their coop is situated up by our home they do like to wander and may grace you with their presence. If they are a nuisance to you please do let us know and we will endeavour to redirect home again. The wildlife here is magical with bird watching a real treat. The cabin is not provided with blinds to ensure you can make the most of the opportunities to view them and the wonder of nature’s seasons. We do however have very good insulated windows which is a necessity if the morning/evening bird song becomes too loud. Guest access The Castle is derelict and currently under renovation. Although it is stunning to look at we have to insist that you do not enter the Castle, its surrounding area or sunken garden. We are passionate about the history and culture of the castle and would be delighted to give you an exterior tour and let you know about plans for the future if you are interested. We continue to enhance the exterior of the building to ensure you have the most romantic back drop possible and will backlight it in the evening for you to enjoy the view. Valuables A lockable safe has been provided within the cabin for your valuables and the cabin itself is lockable. Culdees Castle Estate will take no responsibility for your personal possessions and urge to use the security measures provided. We can store any bikes safely in our garages on request. Wi-Fi access All the cabins have WIFI but please bear in mind these are run from a 4G router and can be affected by inclement weather etc The local area Our site is situated just outside the Pretty Village of Muthill which has a golf course, award winning restaurant, local pub and takeaway pizza & local Ice cream. (Please read our directions note enclosed) It is only 4.9miles to the local historic town of Crieff with an array of Artisan Shops, galleries, coffee shops, restaurants and Bars. Crieff is also home to the Caithness Glass Centre and the all year round Christmas Shop!
