The monastery was closed around 1538 but its gatehouse and dovecote can be seen on the footpath to the beach. St Illtud’s church dates from the 12th and 15th centuries, and the town hall from the 15th, both of which are less than 100 yards from the property. The location of this cottage provides such varied attractions with a range of pubs, restaurants, beach, walks and shops on the doorstep, whilst being within easy reach of Cardiff’s city attractions, 16 miles, 5 miles from Cardiff Airport, and ½ mile to Llantwit Major station which provides direct links to South Wales and via Cardiff to England. The beach is a 20-minute walk via the public footpaths across the fields or 5 minutes by car. Llantwit Beach, which is popular with surfers, is part of the Glamorgan Heritage Coast linking into the all Wales Coastal Path.
