Description
Escape to The Renard, a stunning 17th-century estate in East Devon, where rustic charm meets luxury. Sleep 19–23 guests across 11 elegant en-suite bedrooms, all dressed with 300-thread-count sheets—the same as The Dorchester. Relax by roaring wood-burners, soak in outdoor baths, and gather in the soaring double-height barn and sun-drenched courtyard. Perfect for unforgettable, cosy countryside celebrations with family and friends. The space Welcome to THE RENARD. Hidden in the rolling hills of East Devon, The Renard is a thoughtfully restored 17th-century estate, where rustic charm meets contemporary comfort. At its heart is a dramatic double-height barn, surrounded by beautifully converted outbuildings — sleeping 19 to 23 guests across eleven en-suite bedrooms (including a super king and a twin). Expect vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, House of Hackney wallpapers, antique curios, and roaring wood-burners — everything you need for a cosy countryside escape. The Barn is the social soul of the estate — an extraordinary space with soaring ceilings, bespoke Italian lighting, oversized dried flower installations, and giant double doors that open straight onto the meadows. There’s a grand reclaimed dining table, a baby grand piano (perfect for late-night Etta James), and a snug with a hand-built bar, wood-burning stove, and projector screen for film nights. The kitchen? Fully kitted out with double ovens and dishwashers — because no one wants to argue about washing up on holiday. On either side of The Barn, you’ll find The Warren and The Den — two self-contained guesthouses arranged around a sun-drenched courtyard. It’s the perfect backdrop for slow weekends with friends or family: lounging beneath jasmine-covered pergolas, grilling around the oversized firepit, or stretching pizzas in the Ooni oven. Green-fingered guests will love the herb and salad garden — yours for the picking. Wander into the meadow and you’ll stumble across two open-air bathtubs — made for stargazing with a glass in hand. For younger guests, there’s a wooden swing, lawn games, and plenty to keep little ones entertained in all weathers. We’re also happy to share our favourite local spots and experiences. Craving a quiet moment? Head to the Sunset Deck. It’s ideal for a morning meditation or an end-of-day G&T, with sweeping views across the valley. Sleeping Arrangements The Warren features three en-suite bedrooms and a private living area with kitchenette. It’s fully accessible for wheelchair users. The Barn houses six en-suite doubles upstairs, plus The Reading Room — a charming single with its own bathroom. (Note: it overlooks the dining area, so best for heavy sleepers or late-night dancers.) The Den adds two more en-suite doubles. Please note: The current Airbnb listing and nightly rate includes accommodation for up to 19 guests across The Barn and The Warren. If you'd like to include The Den to sleep an additional 4 guests (up to a total of 23), this can be added to your booking for £385 per night plus a £95 cleaning fee. The Barn’s dining table extends to seat all 23 guests together. Guest access Owners Freddie & Claudia live in the farmhouse on-site, but the Barns and grounds are exclusively yours to enjoy.
