The Watch House is a beautiful 19th Century coast guard’s watch-house perched on a cliff on the South Cornish Coast with the most spectacular views imaginable. It is off-grid and is a 20 minute walk from the car park, but for adventurous souls, The Watch House offers incredible rewards. The cottage is set in a stunning National Trust coastal landscape and has been in the care of the wonderful Trinick family for decades. We manage bookings on their behalf and guests can call us any time. The space The Watch House is the only building on an 8 mile stretch of beautiful Cornish coastline. It has two main rooms: a kitchen and a main living room with log burner. There are 3 original built-in bunks in the main room along with a pull-out double sofabed. In the kitchen there is a fold-down bunk for a 6th person. There's a flushing loo and hot outside shower open to the sea view! There's no electricity so lighting comes from candles and LED lanterns. IS IT FOR ME? For most who've stayed at the Watch House, it has been the most incredible place they've ever discovered, but it isn't for everyone. You will need to be reasonably fit and able and reasonably practical. You'll need to be able to light the wood burner, turn on the gas boiler (we provide instructions), use candles safely, remove the storm shutters (again with instructions) and carry your sleeping bags, towels and food down the coastal path from your car park (a 20 minute walk). If the above describes you, this is a magical, remote and romantic spot that is completely unique - you won't find anywhere like it. Guest access The whole cottage and it's outside area will be available to you and is an incredibly private and secluded space. Other things to note PLEASE NOTE: The Trinick family, your hosts at the Watch House, do NOT provide bedding, towels, tea towels or linen. You will need to bring these with you (mattresses and pillows are provided). SUNDAY ARRIVALS: We usually are NOT able to accept bookings beginning on a Sunday, but can occasionally make an exception. Please ask me if you'd like to arrive on a Sunday.
