Inside the hut curl up in front of the wood burner, a cosy place to be away from hustle and bustle of life The space Set amid the ancient ruins of a post-medieval house with cascading terraced gardens, the site is steeped in history. The hut is nestled atop a ledge that was once the ‘main terrace’ of the pleasure gardens, with panoramic views across the valley and to the pretty fishpond below. The wood-fired hot tub is set beside a centuries old Portuguese Laurel tree, one of several exotic ornamental trees to survive as a remnant of the formal garden that once stood here. A stay here is perfect for those wanting to lose themselves in nature. Sit back and watch the red kites and buzzards playing on the thermals, listen for the woodpeckers in the trees, and catch a glimpse of the illusive heron fishing on the ancient pond. Once the wildlife has gone to bed, lose yourself in a good book or enjoy drifting off to the call of the owls, in this dark and most peaceful of places.
