Puffin Yurt is situated on the Island of Ulva, in a secluded plot next to Ardalum House, in an exceptionally peaceful location alongside Ulva Sound, with views of Loch Tuath in one direction and in the other, Ben Mor, the highest mountain on Mull. Ulva is rich with lush woodlands, and there are extensive moorlands to the west, with otters, red deer, seals and eagles. The geology and archeology are renowned, with walks to basalt cliffs and the Livingstone caves. The space Puffin Yurt is a traditional Mongolian Yurt dwelling with large double-glazed windows and doors, an adjustable skylight and wood burning stove, making a cozy retreat with stunning views and equally extraordinary wildlife all around. Guests have use of Ardalum House downstairs shower/w.c. room, and shared use of the house kitchen for food storage and cooking, though it is also possible to cook in/on the stove in Puffin Yurt. Guest access Access to Ulva is from Ulva ferry, Mull, where the is ample free parking for cars and camper vans. Guests arrive via a small passenger ferry (£8 pp return), a crossing of just a few minutes, taking you to the Boathouse seafood cafe on the Ulva shore. From there it is a 25 minute walk on rough, sometimes muddy, tracks to Ardalum House, following the signs for the church. Kit can be transported by quad bike for £15 one way or £20 both ways. Please be aware that the ferry and Boathouse do not operate on Saturdays, nor at weekends from September to March. Other things to note The house has additional facilities that you can purchase if you so wish, these operate on timers that take pound coins: Sauna, washing machine, Clothes dryer Firelogs, kindling and firelighters can be provided @ £6.50 per load. There are no cars on the island, but bicycles can be brought across on the ferry. Ferry crossing @ £8 pp return Ferry bicycle fee @ £1 return. Porterage of bags from the ferry to Puffin Yurt by quad bike & trailer can be arranged with us for a fee of £15 for single trip and £20 both ways (at the beginning and the end of your stay). Ulva does not have any shops and apart from the Boathouse Restuarant, no other eating facilties, so please bring all your food supplies with you.
