The Benton House located in the White Mountains is a perfect base for skiers, hikers or for just relaxing with friends on the wrap around porch. With 5 bedrooms:3 baths it is a warm an intimate gathering place for all. The house maintains the charm of its 1850s origins while providing the modern conveniences we expect. On 6 acres with a rushing brook running through it's completely surrounded by nature, rivers, forests, wildlife, ponds and mountains to play in and take in the beauty of it all! No matter what the season the Benton House will provide a memorable experience. The mountains have some of the best hiking trails in the northeast some with trailheads within minutes from the house. In the winter they provide excellent downhill and x-country skiing. There's a campfire pit to gather around and make smores! Or a barbecue on the patio is more to your liking. There's a great swimming holes at the foot of a covered bridge within minutes. And of course in the fall there's some of the best fall foliage viewing through out the White Mountains. This is not a condo it is a house by itself on 6 acres surrounded by forest with history and personality perfect for those people that want something more than a bed. You know who you are so come make your memories at the "Benton House". The house has a full kitchen, family/TV room, Dinning room, Living room, game corner, mud room, outdoor patio/barbeque, campfire ring, 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms all with full access to guests. The house is on a mountain brook for fishing, exploring and for the hearty a dip! There are two out buildings (a barn and workshop) that do not allow guest access. We are available through Airbnb messaging and endeavor to get back to our guests messages promptly. There is a caretaker located within a mile from the house who is also available if someone is need at the house. The house is nestled in amongst the forests of the mountain but conveniently located on a well maintained state road making access by car reliable, quick and easy. The nearest neighbor is 1/4 mile away for a private location. We have on occasion seen moose, deer, bear, mink, beaver, fox, hawks, eagles, great blue heron and many other residences of the forrest when their paths cross the property. The house is right on a brook which has a few "brookies" (trout) for the patient fisherman. We bought this house to have the opportunity to share our love of this amazing place with our family and friends. We are happy to make this treasured experience available to our guests. Many of whom have made their return here an annual event. You will need a vehicle to get to the house. There is no public transportation to the house. Parking on the property is at the end of the driveway. BBQ: Please note the BBQ Grill is a charcoal only grill (not gas). You will need to bring a supply of charcoal if you plan on using the grill. TRASH MANAGEMENT: In order to provide the safest environment to our guests and staff in these times of Covid-19 we are urging guests to take their trash out with them when they leave. Any trash that can’t be removed by the guest should be put into a trash bag, tied, and placed in the large trash container in the mud room making sure the lid is firmly closed. Guest staying for 3 or less nights are allowed two trash bags at no added cost. Additional trash bags over the limit will be charged to the guest at $8/bag. CAMPFIRES: You will need to bring campfire wood if you plan to use the campfire. The wood piles stored nearby belong to family members and are not for guest use. There are many roadside options along the way to the house as well as local markets where you can purchase bundles of campfire wood. Note: Campfire wood can not be used inside the house stove under any circumstances. Only certified "hardwood" can be burned inside.
