Description
This beautiful, handcrafted shepherd’s hut is set in a small private garden in the vibrant suburb of Newtown, Wellington. Lined with natural NZ fastigata timber, it has been designed for comfort and visual delight. A small bathroom is available for guests’ exclusive use in the laundry which is only a few metres from the shepherd’s hut. The space This beautiful hut has sometimes been mistaken for a gypsy caravan because of its colourful and ornate exterior. It sits on a 100-year-old traditional axle within the charming and private backyard of the main house, a traditional Newtown villa. Guests can use the outdoor furniture just outside the shepherd’s hut but are welcome to use the family barbecue and deck of the main house. The hut is easily heated by an original miniature wood-burning stove or a small oil-filled heater. The comfortable double bed has a new quality mattress and linen. Furnishings include a beautiful patchwork quilt, antique china and silver, small fridge, toaster, tea and coffee-making facilities, a microwave and a small sink with cold running water. Other things to note Although the property is in a fairly densely populated area, there is surprisingly little noise around the streets during the day or at night. There are sometimes ambulance sirens and the noise from the rescue helicopter because of the close proximity to the hospital, but these are rarely intrusive.
