Our sun-filled 2,200 sqf mid-century ranch home is your ideal desert retreat. A fully equipped gourmet kitchen, 365 degree views over the Marfa plateau, 25 acres of private land are some of the features that make for a unique and genuine Marfa & West Texas experience. The space Our recently remodeled home is located less than 1.5 mile from the Marfa courthouse yet has unobstructed views of the mountains and Marfa plateau. The main central space includes lots of floor space around a living/sitting area, a spacious kitchen, a dining room that comfortably sits 12, and a pantry with more shelf space than you could wish for. On one side of the house is the master aisle with a large bedroom equipped with a cal king bed, a large bathroom with a tub and walk-in shower, and a quiet office/library with a large window overlooking the Haystack mountains in the distance. On the other side of the main space is a hallway opening to 2 smaller bedrooms (one with a queen size, one with 2 single beds), 2 bathrooms (one with tub one with walk-in shower), and a TV/playroom in the middle. The outdoors are made of pristine prairie grasses, an above ground unheated 5 feet deep swimming-pool tank (available during the warmer months only, generally from mid-May to late September), and a private mile-long trail along the edge of the property. Limited domesticated landscaping or outdoor furniture at this time. The house includes wifi, central heat & air, washer/dryer, outdoor barbecue grill, roku stick, a vintage 1980s arcade game table & lots of board games. The kitchen comes with a 5-burner gas stove and oven, a dishwasher, and a number of small appliances (KitchenAid stand mixer, rice cooker, toaster, juicer, blender, waffle iron, etc.). Please note there is no microwave oven. This house is our home and was therefore not originally designed as a short-term rental. We are in and out of town for a little while and are offering it to short-term renters. It is uncluttered and generously proportioned. Staying in our house allows you to make the most of what Marfa has to offer, and to enjoy the peace and serenity of the surrounding expansive landscape. PETS: One well-behaved pet is allowed for a $50 fee per stay. Please make arrangements with our hosts BEFORE you arrive. Pet cleaning fee is charged separately. Undeclared pets will be fined $200 each! Please only responsible pet owners! Guest access CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT: House is self check-in so you can arrive anytime after 4pm. We highly suggest you arrive before 8pm to avoid checking-in in the dark. We may not be available after 8pm to address any concern so please plan accordingly. Please request early check-ins or late check-outs, as those can not be a guarantee. Please be sure to check the house thoroughly for all of your belongings before leaving. PARKING: is right outside the house. You can also bike or even walk to town. TRASH: All trash must be taken up the road to the dumpster. Other things to note Please note that the original single-pane steel-frame windows do not allow for the house to reach temperatures much below 75 degrees in the summer. If you are attached to a 65 degrees indoor temperature in the summer, our house may not be most suited for you.
