The space THE PINK COTTAGE UPSTAIRS SUITE with SUMMER HOUSE in the SECRET GARDEN It appears modest in size from the outside, but step inside and you’ll find your upstairs apartment is more spacious than expected—extremely quiet, peaceful, and wonderfully cosy. The Pink Cottage was built from traditional stone over 200 years ago and lovingly restored in 2020 to create a hidden haven of tranquillity. From the living room’s little sash windows, you can enjoy a lovely sea view. The interior has been thoughtfully converted to a sumptuous standard while remaining true to its era. Many of the furnishings are original antiques—each with its own story and timeless craftsmanship. Tucked away in your own secluded Secret Garden is a charming Victorian-inspired summer house—a peaceful retreat where you can relax, read, or sip prosecco while soaking in the sea air. ON ARRIVAL Just inside the front door, a narrow staircase leads you up to your own completely private retreat. Please mind your head as you step through the doorway at the top—the cottage was built centuries ago, when people were a little shorter! Due to the compact staircase, the space isn’t suitable for children or pets. Parking is available right in front of the cottage near the white wall, and we’re happy to provide safe overnight storage for bikes and golf clubs. LIVING ROOM The spacious living area includes a cosy dining nook—perfect if you’d like to prepare your own food (there is no separate kitchen). You’ll find a mini-fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, plus utensils, a chopping board, and everything you need to dine in with ease. Plates, bowls, cutlery, as well as wine and prosecco glasses are all provided. For coffee lovers, there’s freshly ground coffee and a cafetière, while tea drinkers can enjoy a selection of teas—including loose leaf with an infuser teapot for that perfect brew! You’ll also be welcomed with a thoughtful selection of complimentary breakfast items—so there’s no need to dash to the shop on arrival! Here's what you'll find waiting for you: - Ground coffee for the cafetiere - Tea - loose leaf and bags - Local fresh milk - Luxury Muesli - Irish Organic Porridge Oats Sachets - Jams locally hand made - Local Butter The fridge is also perfect to chill beer or wine so you can relax and enjoy a glass of something in the evening...maybe even outdoors in the Secret Garden or in the Summer House. There's a smart TV too, so you can catch-up on whatever you're watching on Netflix and the other channels. The living room also has a writing bureau, should you want to do some work, or send an old fashioned postcard! Oh, if you do, you can post it in the red letterbox just outside The Pink Cottage, daily collections! Wifi is good, should you really need to work. BEDROOM The bedroom features a luxuriously comfortable king-sized bed with a high-quality memory foam mattress, supportive pillows, and premium, high thread count linens—designed for a restful night’s sleep. The window has a discreet black-out blind should you want to banish the early morning light! BATHROOM Newly refurbished, the bathroom features a traditional roll-top bath with elegant claw feet and an overhead shower—perfect for a long, indulgent soak. The vintage-style tiled floor is warmed with underfloor heating, keeping your toes toasty on chilly mornings. White, fluffy towels are provided, along with full-length cotton bathrobes, so you can wrap yourself up and enjoy that spa-like feeling—especially after a relaxing soak with the complimentary bath salts we make ourselves using aromatherapy oils and Himalayan salts. THE SECRET GARDEN with your own private SUMMER HOUSE Your private Secret Garden has a hidden secret gem tucked away at the bottom: a beautiful Victorian-inspired summer house. It’s the perfect retreat to relax with a book, have your morning coffee, sip wine or simply take in the sea air in total peace and privacy. Sheltered by high hedges and overlooking the sea, the garden is a quiet, secluded space where birdsong and sea views set the mood. There’s a chiminea to keep you warm on cooler evenings and a small BBQ ready for sunny afternoons. You’ll find kindling, logs, tealights, BBQ coals, and matches all provided—everything you need for a couple of cosy evenings outdoors, perhaps watching the sunset with a glass in hand. For the garden chairs cushions are stored in a nearby container box for easy access, and there are a couple of soft blankets too, just in case the evening air turns cool. And the best part? It’s your own private escape—hidden away... no one will even know you’re there. Guest access The Pink Cottage is on the grounds of our home, although it is an entirely separate cottage building to our house. There is a large private parking area to the front with adequate parking for 2 cars. Access to The Pink Cottage is via the driveway of our own home, The Blue House with No.35 on the wall, which is visible as you drive towards it, on McCraes Brae. Full detailed and accurate directions are sent to you before your stay. Other things to note Our own home is a detached house, The Blue House, sitting next door to The Pink Cottage which is within our home's grounds. They are 2 entirely separate buildings. My husband and I use the ground floor of The Pink Cottage for our office work and these rooms are private. You have your own private lockable access to your suite. One more thing, just be aware that The Pink Cottage Upstairs Suite is accessed up a little compact flight of stairs and one or two of the doorways are on the low side, so mind your head!
