When you are here you get a bedroom to yourself and shared access to the living room, deck, hot tub, upstairs kitchen and bathroom, etc. We require at least a 6 day stay. The wear and tear of frequent short term guests on our beautiful dream house isn't worth the effort to clean. We prefer longer stays to shorter visits. BRING YOUR CAMERA AND BINOCULARS! Every night is a different show of sunsets and osprey and other wildlife. (We have some simple binoculars but if you are serious about watching the wildlife bring your own.) Want to experience wine country? It's about a 1.25 to 1.5 hour trip to the Willamette Valley wine country and we have maps of the wineries for you to visit. Super fun day trip!!! Or you might enjoy a day trip to Hood River which is about an hour away. More likely you'll want to relax on the deck and enjoy the river! Maybe you want to wander downtown Portland. Maybe you’ll want a day trip to the coast. Or perhaps you want to visit Mt St Helens. We’ve just added a laminated walking map of downtown Portland and the latest travel guides for Portland and for Oregon. That the house is a mere 10 minutes from the Portland Airport makes it a perfect destination for the working professional tired of hotels. Free parking for 1 to 2 cars in front of home. (With Uber you may not even need a rental car! 1 Airbnb guest car allowed. Salty's on the Columbia is less than 6 miles away for fine dining (with an awesome happy hour menu much more affordable than their dinner pricing), but we provide local menus for delivery as you'll likely rather have dinner on the beautiful deck and stay home. There is a takeout Thai restaurant that is a mile from our home that is affordable and delicious that we often enjoy. We strongly prefer a mature business traveler such as a travel nurse and hope for repeat customers. We ask a 6 day minimum but give weekly and monthly discounts. If you do wish to get a rental car, there are several car agencies within 3 or 4 miles that will pick you up. We have coffee and creamer, a variety of teas, oatmeal, individual butter pats and locally made Dave’s killer bread, pasta and red sauce. (No restaurant will have a view as nice as ours, not even Salty’s!) There is a full kitchen. It can be your home away from home, but better! On a budget? Costco is only a few blocks south so you can eat without breaking the bank. Our linens are new and soft. We buy fresh towels every year for Airbnb guests. We have mattress protectors that inhibit bed bugs and we wash them between every guest. In fact, we are kind of type A about bedding. We ask that you strip the sheets AND the top mattress pads at the end of your stay to help us know which beds you have used. We have a thicker quilted mattress pad next to the mattress then a thin special bed bug resistant mattress pad on top of that. The deck overlooking the Columbia River is spectacular and relaxing. One of our favorite activities is having a glass of wine and watching the river go by. If you are a light sleeper we suggest you choose a different Airbnb. Light sleepers may find road noise bothersome. We have paradise on the back side of the house and vehicles driving past at 40 mph on the front side of the house. A couple years ago we spent a lot of money sound proofing the front of the house, but light sleepers won’t want to rent our home. You will be enthralled with the wildlife on the river. As I was typing this a fat beaver crawled up on the dock. A bald eagle has taken up residence in recent months. And osprey are a common sight. Yep, it’s paradise. LIMIT 1 AIRBNB GUEST CAR. We have a little computer for guest use. (We don’t have a printer at present, but most airlines accept tickets on your cell phone if you check in online.) We have a few business essentials like a stapler, tape, scissors, hole punch and such for your use. Team Viewer is loaded on the computer in case you need to check your computer back home. If you run into some of our liquid sunshine and wish to stay in we also have lots of board games and books and a cabinet full of our fave classic DVDs and cards for guest use. We’ve added a computer for guest use. You can use your Netflix or Amazon on our smart tv. We have a variety of plush robes for guests. We have comfy blankets for the deck. If you are wondering why we have the cleaning fee it’s because washing the mattress pads, sheets and blankets and robes takes a long time. The extra effort is kind of a pain in the behind, but it’s what we know you want! A couple years agoWE GOT GORGEOUS NEW CARPETING FOR THE AIRBNB! (Thank you, past Airbnb guests for helping us pay our mortgage and afford new carpeting.) Do us a favor and take off your shoes as you enter. A repeat note for light sleepers: In December, 2018 year we spent 12 grand soundproofing the front (road side) of the house that had been plagued by road noise. We took out arbor vida to allow for more parking then realized how much road noise it blocked so had to spend gobs of money to sound proof the front of the house with fancy windows and noise absorbing materials. If you are a light sleeper you might find another place to stay. The beauty and serenity of the deck is worth the mild nuisance of road noise. We supply new soft warm plugs in the guest use basket if it turns out to be an issue for guests. If you are a health nut, we’ve got you covered! The smart tv has smart cast so you could find a yoga workout on YouTube (such as SarahBethYoga) and smart cast it to the tv. Fit guests should definitely check out one of the segue tours of downtown Portland. Come home!!l Guest access Upstairs has owner’s bedroom, guest bedroom for airbnb guest, laundry room, full kitchen, living room, riverside deck, shared bathroom. You’ll likely spend most of your time on the outdoor deck overlooking the river. During your stay Interaction depends on the guest and our busy work schedules and guest preference. I travel a fair bit, but roommate Sheila is nearly always here downstairs. I'm quick to respond to any emails and messages. Other things to note Not the average airbnb rental. We gladly share our home to mature professionals. We hope for repeat customers. We strive to make traveling business workers comfortable. Once you get home, you probably won't want to leave. This home IS a destination. Registration Details 17-183121-000-00-HO
