Description

Only one hour from the CBD yet it feels like another world. Watch the sun rise over the escarpment rising above the glorious Hawkesbury River and drift off to sleep to the rhythm of gently lapping waves. Come by ferry, water taxi ( not jet ski) by to our car-free island. Curl up with a book, bushwalk, birdwatch, throw in a line or stroll down to the cafe for coffee. Perfect for writers, artists, boaters, photographers and nature lovers. Recharge and make memories! The space A unique, restored private cabin right on the water. Recent renovations have respected the character of this rustic cabin. The cabin has air-conditioning , a ceiling fan, electric blankets, high quality linen, ensuite bathroom, well-equipped kitchen, with full stove and cooktop, fridge, microwave and other appliances. There is a private balcony overlooking the river and downstairs another large shady deck with deck chairs where you can relax and hang out and a third small deck to the side which is like a little treehouse. Use the jetty if you are bringing your boat or would like to go fishing off the jetty. The cabin is three jetties down from Bradley's beach and a short walk to the Cafe, Bowling Club and main ferry wharf. Ideal for relaxing, swimming, walking, chilling, writing and dreaming. Views you would not believe! You will fall in love with this unique little home - it has a sense of simplicity and everything you need to just live. Enjoy the bush, birdwatching, cloud watching, river gazing and the stars at night! Leave your car on the mainland and take a complete break from your hectic lifestyle. There is one open plan living space with a queen size comfy bed and a basic single size sofa-bed which can be made up to accommodate kids. (See the pictures) Take the ferry over to Brooklyn and enjoy the cafes and seafood restaurants. The main train from the CBD meets the ferry and regularly runs throughout the week. If you want space to breathe and get back in touch with the rhythms of nature, this is the holiday you need. Its gentle pace, its light, its expansive views! So special, and the comforting thing is it's yours when you need it! Guest access Private use of cabin and use of the downstairs waterfront deck. Shared access to the garden, private jetty and pontoon. (As it is a water access property we need to use the jetty as well). Jet skis are not accepted due to noise snd environmental impact z. Use of the jetty to moor other boats is by arrangement only and is limited to small boats. ( 5.5 metres and under ) Use of our tandem kayak, life jackets and fishing gear by arrangement when not in use. the Boatshed is in the bush and directly on the waterfront. You come and go to the rest of the island by boat or on foot. When the tide is out you can walk along the waterfront to access the rest of the island or go up the steps on our steep block to the main track which runs around the Island . The numerous steps will pose a challenge for people with mobility or health problems. The Boatshed is in the bush and insects will fly in from time to time. Sometimes small spiders lend us a hand with insect control. If you are shy of the natural world and freaked out by bugs this will not be the best choice for you. Other things to note We have fishing gear, a tandem kayak and life jackets that we have been known to share with guests who ask us very nicely :) the kayak is very popular with guests - even in winter! The Boatshed has wifi, however the signal strength varies from strong to abysmal. There is no TV but there is a Bluetooth tower so you can stream your music. The Boatshed is a place to unwind, disconnect and tune into the mesmerizing vista of the water and sky and the sounds of the birds, trees and waves. Dangar is a residential island and there are neighbours. Please be aware that while the Boatshed is generally blissfully quiet our neighbours can occasionally do noisy stuff - just like all neighbours everywhere. The kookaburras are gorgeous but very brazen and they think it's fine to share your meals! The Boatshed is in the bush and insects will find their way in from time to time. If you are shy of the natural world and freaked out by bugs this will not be the best choice for you. Bugs are an avoidable part of life in the Australian bush. We avoid using harmful chemicals and insecticides, all the linen is thoroughly washed between guests but not treated with bleach and other nasties. We use good quality linen and if there are some tiny blemishes please feel confident you are not harming the environment. Your well-behaved dog will have a great time! So far 2 dogs have been out on the kayak! An extra cleaning fee will apply if your dog creates extra cleaning. It is essential that you treat your dog for fleas and ticks before coming to the island. There are no fences or roads on the island so your dog will need to be well-trained and not of the running off, wandering or barking at neighbours variety . The Boatshed is best suited to senior, quiet and smaller breeds. Dogs are accepted by prior arrangement and should be kept on a lead . We do not allow dogs on the property who are not part of our booking agreement. Please make sure your pet does not bother the precious wildlife on the island. You can reach the Boatshed via water taxi which will take you straight to our jetty. Please be aware that much of the island terrain and our property is steep and you need to be able to manage a lot of stairs. When the tide is out you can walk along the waterfront to access the rest of the island or go up the steps on our block to the main track which runs around the Island . The Boatshed is best suited to couples and it has one super-comfy queen sized bed. The other sleeping option is a basic child sized Ikea single sized sofa bed. We can supply extra linen for you to use with this bed for a charge of $30 per bed. Making up the bed involves some rearrangement if the furniture . When the boatshed is configured for the extra bed it is less spacious. Registration Details PID-STRA-9794
