Lake Biwa Right in Front | Ideal for Large Groups

Okubiwako Shikitei is a traditional Japanese-style private villa located in the northern Lake Biwa area. It is reserved for one group per day and can accommodate up to 16 guests. All guest rooms, except the kitchen, face Lake Biwa, so you can enjoy the wonderful scenery of the Okubiwako area at any time. From the boathouse on the basement floor, you can go directly to the lake. You can also enjoy BBQ there even on rainy days. The space Our house has a traditional tatami rooms, classic Japanese furniture, and a cypress-wood bath. While we keep the charm of the old house, parts of the building—such as the toilets and other facilities—have been remodeled in a modern style, so you can stay comfortably. The house has four separate rooms, so even large groups can stay while still having their own private spaces. ◆ Staff Except during check-in, check-out, and cleaning times, there are no staff members on-site. ◆ Bedding All bedding is provided in traditional Japanese futon style, including futons, comforters, and pillows. Covers for each item are also prepared. Before use, we kindly ask guests to put the covers on the bedding themselves, as part of the traditional Japanese futon experience. ◆ 1st Floor - Kitchen - 1 bathroom with a cypress-wood bath and 3 showers - 2 toilets - 2 sink areas - 1 tatami riving room - 2 tatami rooms ◆ 2nd Floor - 2 tatami rooms ◆ Boathouse (Direct access to Lake Biwa) - BBQ area You can use this area until 8:00 PM. BBQ grills are a paid option. ◆ Meals & Kitchen We do not serve meals at our house. The kitchen has basic cooking utensils and tableware. You are welcome to bring your own food and seasonings to cook. ◆ Parking & Access ・ Parking The parking area can accommodate up to five cars. ・Public Transportation Our house is about 2.3 km from JR Makino Station. Station rental bicycles are available (from 1,000 yen per person for next-day return). Taxis are not available on standby, so we recommend making a reservation in advance. ◆ Smoking Smoking is not allowed indoors. Please use the smoking area in the Boathouse or outside the back door. ◆ Pets Pets are allowed under the following conditions (please notify us in advance): ・Pets are not allowed inside the building. ・Pets are not allowed to relieve themselves on the premises. (Please bring pet toilet sheets or similar items.) ・Please bring a cage or similar enclosure and secure your pet in the earthen floor area near the entrance or on the external terrace. ・Pets must not damage the garden plants, gravel, or any part of the property. ◆ Nearby Shopping ・Heiwado Imazuten(12 minutes by car) ・ Convenience store (6-minute walk) ◆ House Rules Our house is located in a quiet local village. To help protect the peaceful environment for our neighbors and for all guests, please read the following rules carefully. ・ Night Use The BBQ area and boathouse are available until 8:00 PM. ・ Noise Voices and laughter can travel across the lake and may disturb nearby residents. Please keep quiet at night, especially outdoors. ・ Safety Swimming in Lake Biwa after sunset is strictly prohibited for safety reasons. ・ Guest Restrictions Guests related to organized crime groups are not permitted. Guests with tattoos may also be refused accommodation. We may also refuse accommodation, even on the day of check-in, if we determine that a guest may cause safety concerns or disturb the neighborhood. ・ Furniture & Equipment Please return all furniture and equipment to their original places after use. ・ Natural Environment Because the house is located in a natural environment, insects may occasionally enter the house. We take preventive measures, but it is difficult to completely avoid this in this area. Thank you for your kind understanding. Guest access The entire house, parking lot, boathouse are available for your use. The building on the right side is a private residence. Please do not enter the property. If you plan to arrive after 6:00 PM, please contact us in advance. ◆ Passports Please send us a photo of the representative guest’s passport in advance via message. If we do not hear from the owner within that period, the items will be disposed of. ・Only handheld fireworks are allowed until 8:00 PM. ・BBQ grills and hot plates may not be used indoors. ・Smoking is not allowed indoors. ・Please remove your shoes before entering the rooms.
