If you turn left out of the driveway and follow the road, you can follow the coast around to Ring's Beach, and then go further for a coffee in Matarangi. This can either be a lovely walk for the day, or take the bikes and you can follow the Matarangi bike track as well. 2. Its about a 2km walk to the Kuaotunu township. You can walk this mostly along the beach, or there is a path most of the way. Stop for a coffee at Luke's kitchen, or try a pot of their delicious garlic mussels with garlic pizza. 3. Take a cruisy 20-minute drive to Whitianga township. You can walk along the beach, enjoy cafes, restaurants and bars, or enjoy the shopping on the main street. Whitianga also has a gas station and large supermarket. 4. About 30 minutes drive away is the famous New Chums Beach. When you drive out of Bluff road, turn right and follow the road until you see the turn-off for Whangapoua. Drive till you get till the end of this road, and you will see signage for Whangapoua. It is about a 20-minute walk along rocks before you get to the beach, but it's worth it. With no full-time residents, it is just those who wish to bother with the walk, and so it's definitely highly recommended. There is even a lookout that the bravest of them all can climb up. 5. Day trip to Opito Bay, and Otama Beach. Take blackjack road up past Lukes Kitchen, and follow it up the winding coastal road to some beautiful viewpoints. Once you get over the hill, you will get to Otama beach, you can stop here from a swim or follow the road further to get to Opito Bay.
