Featuring a private, outdoor patio and refreshing ocean breeze, our spacious two-bedroom hilltop cabana stays naturally cool all day. The space This cabana is perfect for a single person or couple who wishes to be close to the beach yet tucked away (like a captain in the "captain's quarters") in a safe, quiet place where you can listen to the sound of the waves without the crowds and party scene of Zipolite Beach. There is a bit of a walk or drive up a steep hill. Our location on a hilltop will offer you a refreshing ocean breeze all day long, as well as the relaxing sound of the waves from nearby Zipolite Beach. Guests should take into consideration that Zipolite has become a popular beach destination, and the entire Oaxaca coast is currently under rapid development by investors, resulting in many construction projects in almost every neighborhood. While the natural surroundings are scenic on this property, we cannot control the intermittent noise from neighboring construction projects at this time. We ask guests to please take this into consideration and thank you for your understanding. The outdoor terrace offers guests the opportunity to view native flora and fauna. Some frequently sighted animals include native "chachalaca" birds, iguanas, and other coastal birds in migration. Our garden has papaya trees, several tall coconut palm trees and a spectacular view of two towering "guanacastle" (parota) trees, famous for their value as a sustainable resource for reforestation and preservation of our coastal ecosystem. Guest access Enjoy the ocean breeze from a hammock in the wrap-around terrace. If you have a car or motorcycle, there is private parking available onsite. Other things to note While the cabana includes a full kitchen, one of the most popular and well-known restaurants—"Comedor Alex" (recently changed to "Comedor San Gabriel")—is just a short, 2-minute walk downhill. From the bottom of the hill, the nearest beach entrance is just another 3 minutes away on foot, where you will find many other food service options ranging from beachfront restaurants to small eateries ("comedores") to mobile street vendors. Please see my "Guidebook to Zipolite" for a list of our favorite places to eat in town, categorized by price: high-priced ($$$) mid-range ($$) budget ($) Trash can be dropped into the large trash bin under the stairs right outside your main entrance when necessary. Guests are encouraged not to throw organic waste into the trash bins, because it attracts ants and other vermin. Instead, please toss organic waste onto the outdoor compost area or use a plastic container with a tight-fitting lid. Alternatively, organic waste can be stashed into the fridge or freezer to avoid attracting ants. This is a tropical climate, so the insect population is quite abundant! Please be aware that water is supplied to the cabana by a well. The water is pumped up the third story and stored in large tanks. Once the water storage is depleted, we need to pump water from the well to replenish your water supply. Just let us know right away if the water pressure gets low, and we'll turn on the water pump as soon as possible! The plumbing system is very sensitive. Guests should not flush toilet paper, feminine hygiene products, or food waste down the toilet. Instead, please use the plastic waste bins provided for you. Thanks for your cooperation! Also, I recommend bringing binoculars on your trip to enjoy a closer look at the natural surroundings from our outdoor patio area. Whale watching season is from December to February. Whales can often be sighted from the beach or other hilltop lookout points like this property! You may also see iguanas and "chachalacas" (native birds) in the trees surrounding the property. You'll see them better with binoculars!
