Beautiful mountain home on 40 secluded acres in the rolling hills, located between the Royal Gorge and Salida. Whitewater rafting and Gold Medal fishing are two miles away. There are about three miles of trails on the property and the Arkansas River is minutes away. Because of enhanced cleaning procedures, we are changing to minimum 4 day bookings. The space The house has two bedrooms and two baths, with a sofa sleeper in the living room. King tempurpedic mattress downstairs and queen tempurpedic upstairs. Main floor has open layout with kitchen, dining and living room all open. Bedroom and bathroom are separate. Upstairs bedroom has open stairway (think loft but not as open) and private bath. Screened-in porch upstairs and large patio downstairs. Hot tub is outside with mountain views. Full kitchen with dishes and dishwasher. Laundry room with washer and dryer. Gas BBQ grill on back patio and horizontal smoker available for the more ambitious. Guest access Guests will have the entire house. We will stay in the apartment in the detached garage or be using the Airstream to see more of Colorado. Other things to note There is no smoking in the house and we prefer none on the grounds. The 2016 Hayden Pass fire (16,000 acres) was within three miles and made a lasting impression. Although there is internet available, it is satellite-based and not suitable for downloading movies or shows. I do not recommend our internet for work from home, especially if video meetings or other high bandwidth platforms are needed. We are going green! We have passive solar in the house. During daytime in Winter, it is best to keep the south-facing blinds open. The tile floor absorbs the heat throughout the day release it during the evening. We have solar panels on the detached garage as well. We compost but currently have no recycling solution in our area. If flying to Colorado, consider the Colorado Springs airport. It is less than half the distance to Denver, and as a smaller airport, it only takes minutes to arrive and depart.
