The Owl's Nest on Center Hill Lake
The Owl's Nest on Center Hill Lake
Description
The Owl's Nest will be your next home away from home! Tucked away at the end of a dead-end gravel road, you'll find our perfectly secluded A-frame with all the amenities you'll need for a little R&R. Enjoy an evening with friends/family by the fire pit, or a daytime adventure down to the lake by way of walking trail. We hope you'll enjoy our home, and the sounds of nature (and an occasional hoot from the resident owls) that come with it, as much as we do. The space Upon entering the home, you'll find two rooms on the main level before being welcomed into the main living space. The third room can be used as either an office or fold out the futon for more sleeping space. The main living space is an open concept with your living room, kitchen, and dining all in one. The ottoman in the living room folds out to a twin bed, for added sleeping space, if needed. Up the spiral stairs, you'll find the first (and best) bedroom space all to yourself. Enjoy the morning sunshine peeking in, or take a bath while peering out among the treetops. Please review Guest Safety for more details about the spiral stairs. The sliding door in the living room opens to the large upper deck, which wraps around both sides of the house and includes a charcoal grill and picnic table for outdoor dining. The view from the top deck is deep treehouse forest with a seasonal slight peek of the lake down the hill through the woods. Take the stairs down below, where you'll find the covered deck with the bonus of an outdoor shower. Please review Guest Safety for more details about the deck and height concerns. The kitchen comes equipped with all utensils, pots & pans, and dishware. There are even dog bowls & beds if you plan on bringing your dog(s) along! Guest access Service can definitely be spotty in the area leading up to the house, so make sure you review the directions prior to the drive. Once you turn onto Ford Road, you'll want to continue driving until you reach a slight fork in the road. You'll see signs for other rentals directing you to continue left down Shady Cove Rd, and you'll want to follow those signs. At this point, the road will be a gravel road with some sharp turns and steep hills until you've reached your destination. You'll probably be wondering if you're there yet. If you're asking, the answer is no! Just keep driving until you reach the very end of the road and see a gate with some tall bamboo to the right. Now you've made it! Open the gate and park anywhere you'd like from there. Other things to note The road leading to the house is a hilly, bumpy, narrow gravel road, so please drive slowly and carefully. This house is very secluded, private, and surrounded by nature, so you can likely expect to see wildlife and insects that are found in deeper wooded areas. Inside the A-frame house, the spiral staircase is a bit narrow, and there is a gap between the top step and the loft area, so please use caution and watch your step, and know that dogs, children (and sometimes even adults) may have a challenging time navigating the staircase. The wrap-around deck can be slippery and the railing is somewhat low, so please use extreme caution - especially with children. The trail leading down to the lake is very steep and typically muddy, so we suggest bringing rugged outdoor hiking shoes for the trek down. The lake water levels fluctuate seasonally: fall and winter months have very low levels, while spring and summer bring higher water levels. When the kayaks are available, please note that you may get muddy when accessing the water. Use care not to damage the kayaks as they are very heavy and typically require 2 people to move them to the water. Please use caution and follow all safety guidelines around wearing a flotation vest and properly follow all requirements listed.
