Casa La Muralla by La Vista – Medina Stays

Located adjacent to Plaza de la Iglesia Mayor, the highest point in Medina this beautifully restored traditional Andalucian house has unrivalled views across Medina out to the Bay of Cadiz and Africa. The house itself is built up against the original 9th century arabic fortress walls that encased the old quarter of city. These beautiful, exposed stone walls run through the house and effortlessly connect todays comfortable living with the historic past. The space Built against the ancient fortress walls of Medina Sidonia, Casa La Muralla is a characterful hideaway where history, traditional Andalusian living and spectacular views come together. Step through the front door and straight into the charming Andalusian patio, a peaceful little courtyard at the heart of the house. From here, you’ll find the comfortable living room to one side and a bright, well-equipped kitchen and dining area to the other. An outdoor staircase leads from the patio to the bedroom with its en-suite bathroom, and then onwards and upwards to the real highlight of the house – two private roof terraces. Once you reach the top, you may never want to come down. The views are spectacular, stretching across the Andalusian countryside towards the coast and, on a clear day, all the way to Africa. It’s the perfect place for morning coffee, a lazy afternoon with a book or a glass of wine as the sun goes down. Just across our quiet cobbled street, you also have access to the beautiful gardens and two swimming pools of our sister property, La Vista de Medina. You’ll have your own key to the garden gate, so you can wander over whenever you fancy a swim, find a shady spot for a siesta or simply relax amongst the gardens. And during the warm summer months, we definitely recommend a night-time swim under the stars. Guest access Guests have exclusive use of Casa La Muralla throughout their stay, including the Andalusian patio and both private roof terraces. You will also have your own key giving you access to the gardens and two swimming pools of our sister property, La Vista de Medina, located just across the street. The pools and gardens are shared with guests staying at La Vista de Medina. Casa La Muralla is located on a quiet cobbled street within the historic centre of Medina Sidonia. Free parking is available very close to the house, with a parking permit provided for our guests, bear in mind that the streets are narrow though so the access is not suitable for a really large car. Other things to note Medina Sidonia is a beautiful historic hilltop town, full of character, cobbled streets and wonderful views. As you might expect from a hilltop town, it is hilly and some of the streets are narrow, so Casa La Muralla may not be the best option for guests with serious mobility difficulties. Casa La Muralla is a very special and unique house, and part of its charm is its traditional layout. The bedroom is accessed via the exterior staircase from the patio. Unfortunately, the weather is one thing I can’t control! Outside the main summer months, you may occasionally need an umbrella to get from the living area to your bedroom. Please also note that, due to space restrictions in the kitchen, there is no conventional oven. An air fryer is available upon request if you would like one during your stay.
