Our LUCKY DAWG Hideaway is a well-equipped comfortable space with a queen bed, small kitchen, laundry area and bathroom. The cozy outdoor patio adds to your living area. Estacada is centrally located (abt an hour drive) to both downtown Portland and Mt Hood for all-year skiing and world-class hiking...Plus, we're about a 2.5 hour drive to either the beach or the high desert of central Oregon... A couple of years ago, when we decided to open an Airbnb, there was a wall that had uninspiring wallpaper on it. Jerry and I watched you-tube videos to see how to remove wallpaper, and set out to do so. While peeling this paper off the wall, Jerry saw a "hand." We wondered what we were uncovering. The entire wall was covered with posters from the past. What a DELIGHTFUL treasure. The room became the Hideaway. We are the third owners of this house. We believe that the Hideaway space was an outdoor patio, before being enclosed to become part of the house...thus the cedar shake walls. Your area has a private entrance, no shared living space, (if you stay longer than a week we'll need to do our laundry, in your laundry room). Your space is connected on the north side of our house, with a wall in common, like in an apartment. “Loved your place. So cute and amazing attention to detail. It’s like a work of art. Thanks for sharing! I hope to return sometime.” You'll be parking above the driveway in a dedicated spot. Go through the gate in the corner (look for the "X marks-the-spot"), and proceed down the gravel pathway, down the hill into the lower yard -- about 43 steps. Be careful not to bump your head on a couple of the tree limbs. Besides the parking area, and the pathway coming through the yard to the entrance, you'll have access to the garden area outside of the sliding glass doors. It's a lovely spot to sit to read, enjoy the scent of honeysuckle on the warm breeze, listen to the birds at the feeders, and check out a starry night above... We're here to answer any questions you have or if you need information about the area. Jerry and I have lived in Oregon for 40 plus years and here in Estacada for over 30 years. We enjoy meeting people. We'd love to hear about your adventures... If you’ll be staying for more than a week, Jerry and I will need to arrange a day to do our laundry in your space. Gloria is from Idaho and Jerry is from Montana, but we've been living here in Oregon for over 40 years. The first 8 years on the southern Oregon coast, and the past 30 plus years here in Estacada, which is a LOVELY place to live, work and play. Estacada has a history of logging, but in recent years has been a magnet for many talented artists. Our backyard is the Mt Hood National Forest, with the beautiful Clackamas River, which has sports fishing, rafting, hiking and more. And we're about an hour from year-around skiing on Mt Hood. All this outdoor access, and we're still only about 45 minutes "from the symphony" in downtown Portland, and all that a big city has to offer... There is bus service about 5 blocks from here that will take you into downtown Portland, to the train station or all the way to the Portland International Airport. And for those of you who are geocachers, Estacada is the HOME of the first geocache -- it's in Viola, about 10 miles from our home. And for those of your who are Disc Golfers, Estacada has TWO courses, and one of them is one of the BEST in the country...one's within walking distance and the other is across the Clackamas River... And finally for those of you who play Pickle Ball, we have the equipment to use, and a court is a few blocks away from here... ...and we have all the equipment to play both disc golf and pickle ball... Estacada has it all... A car is probably the BEST way to get around. Bicycles can work too. Portland Tri Met buses, come within about 6 blocks of the Lucky Dawg Hideaway that will take you into downtown Portland, to the Amtrak train station or all the way to the Portland International Airport. ...given the current Corona Virus Covid 19 Pandemic, we want to assure you that all surfaces get wiped down with a bleach solution for your safety and ours...we also run a hepa filter air cleaner after each checkout for extra protection... We are both vaxed and boosted and we hope the same of you, for everyone's well being... For your convenience, you'll have no keys to lose or to return! This property provides secure, key-less entry with an August Smart Lock. For a short-term stay, two people will work very well in the Hideaway space. For a long-term stay, this space MIGHT be a bit cramped for two...but it has and can work...
