Comfortable & cozy double bedroom in a modernised 4-bed home of old Victorian railway cottages, in a quiet location overlooking field and wood, next to the lovely, small riverside village of Naburn. Good village pub & riverside café/bar nearby. Just 6km south from the centre of beautiful, historic York with all its major tourist attractions, and easy driving distance to Castle Howard, Fountains Abbey and National Parks. + Located next to National Cycle Routes 65/66, ideal for outdoor people. The space Our property consists of two railway cottages, constructed around 1871 next to the former main railway line from London to Edinburgh. This has been diverted onto a new high-speed line and the old track is now abandoned and since the mid-1980s the route of the line has been converted to a peaceful cycle-track, walkway and nature reserve. The cottages have been made into one dwelling, substantially extended on the ground floor, and modernised. Guest access Comfortable and quiet north-east facing first-floor double bedroom (4' 6" bed) which looks out over our garden wildlife area with shrubs, trees and well-stocked wild bird feeders. Use of modern family bathroom/wetroom on the ground floor. Upstairs WC with washbasin. Breakfast in dining room - tea, coffee, sugar, yoghurt, cereals, hot/cold milk, fruit juice, bread/toast etc. are provided. Use of large, farmhouse-style kitchen with Aga stove/cooker, microwave and dishwasher if desired. Two lounges with TVs, the sunroom has garden views to enjoy many species of birds that inhabit the large, enclosed, private garden. Lawn for relaxing, outdoor sitting. Garden furniture and BBQ available for use in Summer months. During your stay We are very happy to welcome guests into our home - we are busy people but are always pleased to share our local knowledge with guests. We are proud of our home and the area that we live in and enjoy sharing them with others. Other things to note If arriving by car please park either to the side of the cottage on the gravel or immediately to the front of the cottage, the adjacent driveway is a shared access with the neighbouring propertyand needs to be kept clear. Thanks. Guests travelling with bicycles - these can be securely dry-stored overnight if desired. Refuse and recycling are collected from the cottage on Mondays. Take care when exiting onto the public road from the station area entrance as visibility is slightly limited and some traffic speeds can be high. There are workshops in the former station goods yard which can be active during the daytime on weekdays. There is another guest bedroom at this property that is listed on Airbnb, if additional guests are required. Please enquire with us in advance.
