Redwood Cottage, Fingask Castle, Rait, Perthshire
Description
Our place, at Fingask Castle, is between Perth and Dundee. Approx 1 hour from Edinburgh and 1 hour 15 mins from Glasgow. You’ll love the place...Fingask has a magic, situated on a hillside and hidden away in the heart of the Perthshire countryside. A few minutes from the A90 and easily accessible to local towns and cities, it feels like it is miles away. Good for couples, solo adventurers, families - of all ages, larger groups, and pets are welcome too (though not to be left on their own) . The space Redwood is a two storey house at the start of the courtyard, the front door opens into the glass covered/parking area, the back door opens out to the shared lawn area with garden furniture supplied from spring to autumn. On the ground floor there is - *kitchen with a dishwasher, fridge freezer, washing machine, electric cooker and hob, microwave, kettle and toaster *living/dining room with three sofas, tv and dvd player, and a open wood fire. The dining area has a good sized table which seats up to 8 people. * double bedroom with views out to the garden * bathroom, complete with period roll top bath, hand basin and toilet (no shower). Accessibility - there is one step at the front door, otherwise the ground floor of the cottage is step free. Upstairs on the first floor there is - * twin bedroom 1 - with additional sofa bed, hand basin in the room plus ensuite loo. *twin bedroom 2 - also has a hand basin in the room. *single bedroom * Shower room - electric shower, hand basin and toilet. The heating is oil fired and included in the cost. A small supply of firelighters and plenty of logs for the open fire in the living room are provided for you. Guest access Guests are welcome to stroll around the grounds which were first laid out in the 17th Century by the ancestors of the present owner. The areas close to the cottages and the castle are kept tidy, the immediate area around the castle is manicured with topiary, sculpture and interesting features. The wider parts of the site have a wilder atmosphere and are home to farm animals and wildlife - many different types of birds frequent Fingask and deer can be spotted most days. Please be mindful that the castle is a family home, and is not generally open to the public. Should a wedding be taking place we politely ask you to avoid the area immediately around the castle and the pavillion. The games room is in an outbuilding behind the castle. It houses table tennis, table football and a snooker table (snooker table not currently available due to covid/sanitising restrictions). The heated outdoor pool is usually open from Easter to October. Specific opening and closing dates are dependent on the weather - if cold it may open later or close earlier in the year. Next to the pool is the tennis court, this is for a fun knockabout (it is not Wimbledon ready!). We recommend you bring your own rackets and balls though a limited selection of used items are available for loan from the office. Other things to note If there is a wedding taking place during your stay, we politely request you please avoid the areas in front of the Castle and the Pavilion out of consideration for the bride, groom and their guests. It would usually only be one day over a 3/4 day period where there would be a wedding. Thank you for your understanding.
