Catskills Park Cabin, Woodland Valley Rd
The perfect weekend retreat for a family or small group of max. 4 friends. It sleeps 4, and has an enclosed porch, a deck, two bedrooms, and a common kitchen/dining/living area. The space This place is unique because it has a beautiful wood stove and more pine paneling than one would think possible. It feels like a cabin but has all the amenities of home! Internet, wifi, propane heat (in case the stove isn't enough) and lots of communal space. Guests have access to the entire house, the deck and the yard, where there is a charcoal grill and a firepit. My father and mother own the house, but only visit in the summer. I live in Brooklyn and visit when I can. Seemed a shame to let it sit empty so often! Just 2 miles from the little burg of Phoenicia along the Esopus river, the cabin is convenient to Hunter, Bellayre and Plattekill slopes. There are also numerous swimming holes in the area! No public transit, but there are trails everywhere! Friendly neighbors and lots of fishing spots! Guest access Winter- skiing Hunter, Belleayre, Wyndham, & Plattekill Mtns. Town of Phoenicia- Brios Cantina, Sweet Sue's, art shops Hiking- Woodland Valley State Campground, roads in the area Water- Woodland Valley Creek and Esopus River Other things to note It is two miles into Phoenicia from the cabin. It is a very pleasant walk. Recommendations: 1) Food: Phoenicia - Woodstock Brewery, Brios Pizza, and the Phoenicia Diner are all pretty great. Those are my go-tos. Woodstock has good places and Peekamoose is supposed to be good. The hot dog cart on the right as you head towards the cabin on 28 is good for a dog and a chat with the charming proprietor. 2) Activities: There are many great hikes - Giant Ledge, The Woodland Valley trail at the end of Woodland Valley is good and connected to other trails, Mt. Tremper is close, we just climbed Hunter on the Becker Hollow trail (intense climb), and we have several trail guidebooks at the cabin. Also, Hunter, Bellayre and Windham are all in close driving distance. If it's hot, you can tube the esopus river from Phoenicia. Also, Kaaterskill Falls is great, but can be crowded on weekends. Big Deep and Blue Hole are serious swimming holes. 3) There is a gas station, small grocery store, and everything shop in Phoenica, but for groceries we go to the IGA in Boiceville on rte 28. It's real close to phoenicia. Kingston is the nearest big town with all your amenities, but there are some good shops along rte 28. Kenco outdoors equipment is great if you need anything of that sort. And the Catamount is some pretty fine dining and shopping. Hope that helps. You don't need to bring any towels or bedding. It is all there for you to use, as is the kitchen/dining situation. We have a charcoal grill and wood is stock for your use in the fireplace.
