Nicolas and Marine welcome you to this apartment with exceptional character. You will sleep under a 13th century vault in the middle of the intramural area, Place des Carmes. You will enjoy the calm while being in a lively and lively area! The space The 36m2 apartment is located in the former Célestins cloister, and has a beautiful 13th century vault. The Palais des Papes is about a 5 minute walk. The accommodation includes a living area (two-seater sofa bed and a one-seater extra mattress), a dining area (extendable table for up to 8 people), an open and equipped kitchen (oven, microwave, kettle, teapot, fridge and freezer, bread machine, pastry robot, etc.), a bathroom (with toilet area, shower cabin, laundry, bath linen, etc.) and a mezzanine that acts as a sleeping area (two-seater mattress) (Attention, there is no partition between the night space and the living/dining room). Linging and towels are provided. HISTORICAL: Two beggars moved to Avignon in the 13th century and settled close to the first medieval enclosure. The first were the Augustins who, as early as 1261, built their convent at the exit of Portail Matheron. The Carmelites followed in 1267. The cloister of the Augustins was built at the exit of the Matheron gate between Rue Carreterie and Rue Pasteur. The only vestige still visible to the public today is its bell tower built between 1372 and 1377. Our apartment is attached to the Augustinian bell tower and offers the exceptional opportunity to sleep under the vaults built more than seven centuries ago when the first Pope settled in Avignon. Guest access Parking info: The apartment does not have a private car park with the apartment. There are three ways to park: - park on the street (do not park on Place des Carmes on Saturday mornings and Sunday mornings due to market and flea market); - Parking des Italiens: free, supervised and offering a free shuttle every 5 minutes that will drop you off in front of the building door (Place des Carmes stop). It is a 8-minute walk away and 3 minutes by free shuttle; - Les Halles parking: paid and guarded parking less than 5 minutes walk.
