Description
The space Here is some information for your stay in Marrakech and Dar Soulize. The Riad is called Dar Soulize. It is located in the historic district of the medina (old city). The district is called Baroudienne but if you get lost you should ask for the Ben Youssef mosque. The address is 10 derb Anboub, Baroudienne. The Riad is not a guest house or a hotel but really a residential house at your disposal. It is a holiday home. Hence the intimate and family side of the place. How to get to the Riad: To get there you have to walk 7 minutes from the square called Riad Larousse. There are no cars in the medina. Just pedestrians, donkeys and mopeds Riad Larousse is the closest place to the Riad to park. You will find a parking lot there, Moroccan style. Namely a cluster of cars all stored against each other. The guards of this parking lot will ask you not to put the handbrake on because by a clever game of moving by pushing them they will allow you to access your vehicle when you take it back. The usual rate for the night is 30 drh. (3€). Once the car is parked, you must ask for a carrossa. It is a small handcart that will take you with your suitcases to the Riad for 30dhr. (3€). Normally Kamal the guard of the house will be there to help you. Location of the Riad: As already mentioned, Dar Soulize is in the heart of the historic center of Marrakech. Next to the Koubba The Ben Youssef Mosque The Ben Youssef Medersa The Marrakech Museum The Dar Didj cultural center (the Riad of the storks) and the souk of the Medina. Crossing the souk you will arrive at the famous Djema EL Fna square and the Koutoubia which is the highest minaret in the region. Other must-see places in Marrakech: The Saadian Tombs The Majorelle Garden The Bahia Palace The Menara Basin The Dar Si Said Museum La Mamounia for a drink... and many lesser-known places but which must be discovered by getting lost in Marrakech. The Riad: The house is on 3 levels. The ground floor, the first floor and the terrace. On the ground floor you will find the patio (a real open-air room), the bouh which is the small alcove equipped with a Moroccan living room. This is the strategic location of the Riad. Where we spend the most time. The dining room and an adjoining kitchen. Finally a bedroom for 2 people and its bathroom. A pool is at your disposal. It is in water from the beginning of March to the end of October. Upstairs a second bedroom for 2 people and its bathroom. A large living room which is used rather in winter and often as a dormitory room for children. You will find 4 sofa beds there for 4 people. Access to the bathroom of the room is also via the balcony because there is a double entrance. Finally the staircase leads to the roof terrace which is equipped with furniture. For lovers of sunbathing be careful because the sun is very nasty all year round. By the metal staircase you can access the upper terrace, a small roof-top with a complete and breathtaking view of the medina and the Atlas. It is strongly recommended to pay attention to children and not to leave them unattended ... Meals and cleaning: A person takes care of the riad. She comes the day before your arrival to clean, make the beds and the bathrooms. She is expected to prepare a classic breakfast for you on the first morning of your arrival. This is appreciated by visitors who arrive at night. Meals and other breakfasts are at your expense. If you wish to cook for yourself, you can do your shopping in the small markets and stalls of the medina or the shops in the Guéliz district, the modern city. The guard: Kamal is the guard of the Riad. He does not speak French or English well and you have to insist to be sure that he has understood your question if you ask him. If you give me your arrival time in Marrakech, he will pick you up at the Riad Larousse square. Where you will either park the car if you are motorized or be dropped off by taxi. He will take care of the transfer by carriage of the luggage to the riad. He will sleep at the Riad during your stay. The guard lives at the Riad in a completely independent space and is very discreet and silent. His presence is essential for your safety. Restaurants: In all the guides you will find the most famous restaurants in Marrakech. Traditional or jet set. Nevertheless not far from the house you will find small cafes and traditional but new generation restaurants like Atay, Fondouk, Topsil, the terrace of Epices ... or more gastronomic ones like Dar Moa, Al Fassia, or the famous Yacout. The advantage is that at night many are not far from the Riad ... Be careful on the way back !!! You have to memorize the route. The weather in Marrakech is very contrasting between summer and winter. The months of December, January and February are the coldest. The days are very pleasant 23° on average but the nights are cool and I recommend you take warm sweatshirts for the morning. The rooms are equipped with reversible air conditioners so it's perfect for sleeping, but the main room the patio is in the open air. That's it, the rest is to be discovered on site. Enjoy your stay at Dar Soulize…
