The Outbuilding of Château de Viella

Experience a unique stay in the heart of our Madiran vineyard in the outbuildings of the Château de Viella (18th century). We have taken special care to provide you with a place of conviviality but also to ensure tranquility and relaxation. The front of the Gîte, facing the vineyard, will allow you to live to the rhythm of the vineyard and our activities; its back, for your exclusive attention, includes a large enclosed space, with swimming pool and covered terrace. The space At Château de Viella, we have been winegrowers for 4 generations. But for several years now, the profession has been passed down from father to daughters, because it is alongside our parents that my sister Marion and I are working to represent the continuity of the estate. The Château de Viella was bought by my great-grandfather when he emigrated from Italy; it was in ruins, in the middle of the vineyards. My father Alain undertook the renovation of this 18th century building in 2003, and it was completed in 2005. Our ancestor's dream has finally come true! The renovation of the outbuildings was then an obvious choice, in order to preserve the harmony of this unique heritage. The meaning we wanted to give during the development of the outbuildings of our 18th century Château is multiple. Our primary motivation was to rehabilitate the outbuildings, to give life to this majestic building, battered by time; and this by choosing to use the same noble materials as at the time of its construction, while safeguarding as much as possible the original elements. We want to be able to offer a place to stay that combines all modern comforts with the charm of the old. Thus, the wooden structure has been preserved and even highlighted, especially with the beams that are visible in the living space. In this way, we were able to preserve the character of this 18th-century architecture. The combination of the old and the new has become possible thanks to the materials used, both in the renovation and in the interior and exterior design: use of wood and renewable materials, reuse of decorative elements (we have a lot of flea market finds!), creation of a natural pool without chlorine, highlighting of green spaces... This does not prevent our gîte from being modern in its decoration, with a rather daring choice of wallpaper and curtains, as well as in some elements of the furniture, such as sconces, lampshades and ceiling lights. On the other hand, it is essential for us to offer people who come to stay in the Château de Viella Outbuildings a unique experience: the possibility to discover and live to the rhythm of the vineyard. The gîte is at the heart of our vineyard (25 hectares in one piece). You can leave your private space and walk along the "Jardins d'Aure" pedestrian path, see the work of the vineyard, visit the cellars or participate in one of our tourist events. Thus, you will experience the vibrant experience of Madiran and Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh, the experience of a vineyard that has combined tradition and modernity.
