This cozy 2BR, hand crafted log cabin was built in the 1920's! This is a wonderful opportunity to experience lake living on one of the U.P's premier inland lakes. Build lasting memories with your family Swimming, Fishing, and General Outdoor Fun! This is Lake Living! Life Jackets are on premise, children's sizes up through XL Adult. We also have a little aluminum row boat that you should feel free to use. (Great for some early morning fishing!). The Dock on the property is in good working order, so boat owners are welcome. Boat launch access is free and on the east side of Big Shag Lake. The Cabin is a true old fashioned log Cabin. These logs were cut locally, skidded across the lake, and hand built right here on this location. We have provided some history on the cabin in the Cabin "Journal". The history to this place is pretty cool. Also, We encourage you to put in your own entries into the Journal - we'd love to hear about your time spent here! Updates in 2020: In 2020 we have completed several updates to the cabin to make your stay even better! • A new well – Natural mineral sweet water; it’s fresh, cold, and tastes great! • A new thirty gallon hot water heater. Plenty for a nice hot shower. • New linens for each of the beds. • A Newly built dock ramp – The winter ice has been rough on our poor dock over the years. But the new ramp makes navigating it much, much easier! • New Pots and Pans. Non-stick for your convenience • (My personal Favorite) a new climate control system, with heat and AC! The Remote control is on the wall between the kitchen and dining area. No more muggy nights, or Chilled Noses! Full Kitchen - we have provided a full set of Table Settings for six people. Pots, pans, crockpot, coffee maker, knives, Microwave, full size fridge, full stove, etc... We also provide fresh bottled water for your stay. The entry to the Cabin is a key code lock. Once you have the key code, you will have 24 hour access to the cabin. Upon arrival, you will find a check list to let you know the maintenance and cleaning that has been provided for your stay. Please let us know if anything was missed. Also, If you require house cleaning during your stay, please let us know and we can make arrangements with our cleaning person (fees will apply). Lastly, There are two skylights that help to provide great natural light during the day. You have run of the entire cabin. Parking is free and can easily accommodate three to four places, or you could park a small motor home and a couple cars. Please do not park on the grass. We are available at all times via phone. If there is an issue, please let us know and we will happily get the proper resources engaged to assist you. This neighborhood setting is very friendly. Feel free to wave hello to the people passing by on their boats. Don't be surprised if you find yourself in conversation with complete strangers. There is a local Restaurant/Pub - The Up North Lodge. Great food, and drink. It's a five minute ride from the cabin. There is a local corner store, the Tall Timber, that is also a five minute drive from the cabin. If you ever find yourself short of S'more supplies, this is your go to spot! You will need a vehicle to get to and from the cabin. If you are interested in ATV riding, this is a great launch point! ATV trails literally span in every direction from the lake. Local ATV Trail maps are available from the local DNR office. Or, go to Michigan dot gov / DNR This is a vacation destination in Michigan's UP. It is beautiful country up here. When packing, please bring waterproof sun screen and bug spray. These two little items will go a long way in making your stay more comfortable.
