Built in 1945, this true log cabin was hand-constructed from trees cut locally and skidded across the frozen lake to this very spot. Inside, you’ll find a Cabin Journal that shares more of its fascinating story. We invite you to read about its past — and leave a few memories of your own. We love hearing about how each guest experiences this special place. .. The cabin has a key code lock for simple, contactless entry. Once you receive your personal code, you'll have 24-hour access during your stay. To help us keep the cabin cozy and welcoming for all guests, we kindly ask that you complete a few simple tasks before departure. These light chores will be listed in the cabin, and include things like tidying up the kitchen and taking out the trash. Nothing major — just a little help to keep things running smoothly! If you’d like cleaning service during your stay, we’re happy to coordinate with our cleaning professional (additional fees apply — just let us know in advance). Guest access You’ll have full, private use of the entire cabin and property during your stay. That includes the shoreline, private dock, fire-pit area, paddle boat, row boat, and surrounding outdoor space. Parking is free and there’s plenty of room — the driveway can easily accommodate three to four vehicles or a small motorhome plus a couple of cars. We kindly ask that you do not park on the grass to help preserve the natural landscape. Other things to note When you arrive, you’ll find a welcome Notebook that outlines, rules of the lake and the cabin. We have a couple of cleaning chores we would like for you to help when checking out. We take great pride in the cleanliness of the cabin, If anything appears to have been missed, please don’t hesitate to let us know — we want your stay to be perfect. Other things to note: This is a true unplugged getaway – no Wi-Fi or TV Cell service is strong for most providers, we have two speaker charging stations for your enjoyment The cabin is vintage, clean, and cozy — full of character, we have updated the space with many modern luxuries Fishing is excellent from the dock or out on the lake (bring your gear!) we have provided a five gallon bucket with lid that is located beside the garbage for you to place your fish remains. A public boat launch is available on Big Shag Lake for your convenience Wildlife is abundant — watch for eagles, loons, ducks, and more right from the porch. This is a vacation destination in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, surrounded by natural beauty — when packing, don’t forget waterproof sunscreen and bug spray. These two small items will make your stay much more comfortable!
