Villa delle Upupe is located about 2 km from the village of Castellina in Chianti, in the green hilly landscape between Siena and Florence and in the heart of Chianti Classico, the beautiful region famous all over the world for its postcard views and for the excellence of its wines. The space It enjoys a privileged position on top of a hill, overlooking the beautiful landscape dotted with olive trees and vines and is surrounded by dense wooded vegetation, ideal for taking long walks in close contact with nature. Inside the exposed stone exterior is a fascinating interior: every room, from the warm intimate bedrooms to the cosy living area, has been designed with great attention to detail, with fine furnishings and accessories, combined with beautiful upholstery that recalls the unmistakable hues of the Sienese countryside. The result of shrewd restoration, this farmhouse reinterprets classic Tuscan architecture, adapting to the sloping terrain due to which both floors have outside access, especially on the lower floor where the brightly-lit rooms of the living area open out to the private garden, an authentic corner of tranquillity enriched by an attractive pergola for relaxing outdoors and by a beautiful swimming pool nestling in the vineyards that produce one of the finest wines in Chianti Classico. We are, in fact, within the Castellare di Castellina, a prestigious and well established farm estate which covers an area of about 80 hectares and which produces excellent extra virgin olive oil and some of the most select wines of Chianti. The winery, open for tasting and for the sale of wine and olive oil, is about 2 km from the farmhouse. Not far from the property is the scenic Chiantigiana, a panoramic bridge that connects Siena to Florence, which you can take to make day trips to the well-known localities of Radda, Gaiole, Greve and Panzano, rich in art treasures, churches and Renaissance villas perched on scenic hills. N.B. The house has a separate entrance and is about 50 m from the owners' villa from which it is separated by hedge screens to ensure maximum privacy. Interior: The house has two floors which follow the natural slope of the terrain and are connected by both internal and external staircases. The main entrance is on the ground floor which is composed of two double bedrooms and one twin bedroom, all with private bathrooms (two with shower and one with tub and shower). Going down to the lower floor, you come to an elegant living room with ornamental fireplace and the dining room, both facing the back garden. From the dining room, a few steps lead down to the kitchen and to a room used as both pantry and laundry. This floor is completed by a bedroom (with double divisible bed) with ensuite bathroom with shower and a toilet. Underfloor refrigeration and heating system. Guest access Park: Outside the farmhouse, a quiet, tranquil garden unfolds, adapting to the sloping surface of the property and forming a whole with the splendid setting of vineyards, woods and hills that naturally delimit it. Vegetation consisting of lavender bushes, wild roses, jasmines, strawberry trees, essential plants and rosemary borders, framing the dry stone walls and short stone paths, is the backdrop to the panoramic pergola right in front of the French windows of the living room and the exclusive swimming pool, the perfect point from which to admire the wonderful sunset over the Chianti hills. N.B.: Please note that the photo shoots are usually done in spring, so the colors and blooms of the gardens, meadows and parks may be different when you enter the villa. Swimming pool: The rectangular swimming pool is located in the garden at the back of the villa, on a terrace at a lower level, and can be reached by descending a few steps near the pergola. With its gray PVC coating, the pool (measuring 3 x 9 m and a depth between 1.40 m and 1.60 m) integrates perfectly into the natural landscape that welcomes it. Inside there are three steps for easy access to the water. The purification system is chlorine-based. The sunbathing area, paved in stone along the perimeter of the pool and then with lawn in the area equipped with sun loungers and parasol, is bordered on one side by dry stone walls and on the other by an enveloping backdrop of vines. A cold-water shower is available. The pool will be open from the last Saturday of April to the first Saturday of October. Pets: Yes, maximum 1 small and medium-sized pet (max 10 kg). The admission of animals to the facility must be authorized in advance by the owner upon notification of the number of animals, size and breed.
