Sweet Summer Retreat under the apple tree
Ideal environment to comfortably rejuvenate in beauty and sweetness. Unplug. Step back in time. Nestled under an apple tree, early 1800 s home, renovated while retaining its individual personality. Come, play in the garden, sit by the bonfire, read or write a novel. Perfect for individuals or small families. Solitude and serenity without isolation. 5 min walk to the Delaware river. 2 hours scenic drive from NYC. All are welcome here. The space Absolutely delightful. Uncluttered. Make it your second home! Take off your shoes when you enter. The house is a shoe free zone! Slip on your slippers -or borrow a pair (necessary in the winter) or enjoy the smooth wood floors bare foot (in the summer). European bathroom with handheld shower (and hook). No cable TV in the house. Only Wifi. Large flatscreen monitor with DVD player and small selection of movies. Fragrance free linens and harsh chemicals avoided. Tall people be aware! Stair at midway platform requires head bending for those over 5'10" and bathtub ceiling is slanted, standing room only for those under 5' 8"!!! Guest access In spring and summer you can take over the garden, weed, or plant your favorite vegetables or flowers. Garden is spacious and a bit unwieldy at times. Lots of activities for young people from building paths or teepees in the woods, climbing in the "tree" fort, toddler slide, and sandbox. (Or building snowpeople and making snow angels.) All located next to the garden, behind my house. Fire pit and out door dining area in shared side lawn (when firewatch permits). For extended stays in the winter a supplemental heating fee will be requested before booking. Other things to note This home is set up as a sanctuary for personal rejuvenation and retreat. Schedules for nearby "Chi Hive" with Yoga and amazing Aerial silks classes, "River Family Wellness Center" has delicious Massage, and Acupuncture, and on site Rosen Method and SE Somatic Bodywork, or Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy is often available. Spend time digging in the garden, or sitting among the trees. Cozy up by the fire pit. Walk down to the River, or go to Skinner's falls, for swimming, kayaking or tubing. Across the street a lovely scenic after dinner 1 mile stroll through the woods on dirt road for those wanting nature but less adventurous. And always be prepared to share the lawn with a dozing faun, grazing buck, or the occasional skunk, fox, bald eagle or other wildlife. Be aware that the house is right next to the country road so though the back bedroom is quiet, you do hear when traffic or trucks go by from the front bedroom. For those who are sensitive there is a fan or a white noise machine with rainfall, or ocean sounds. Tea, coffee, and half a dozen local fresh eggs (in season) greet you on arrival. Your own private apple tree lures the deer for intimate viewing. Blueberry, blackberry, raspberry bushes on property, as well as peach, pear and apple tree... available in season. Kid friendly as well as gardener friendly.
