Popty Pennant is an old bakehouse in the grounds of an historic seventeenth century upland manor house on the Chirk Castle estate at the head of a secret valley, part of the Ceiriog Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty The space Popty Pennant is a tiny cottage - a converted bakehouse with stone flagged floor, beamed ceiling, white washed walls and an old cast iron range with open fire and stove. It's furnished with traditional antique pieces, a couple of comfortable arm chairs and a scrubbed top table. The cosy crog-loft bedroom with comfortable double bed looks down on to sitting room and open fire. The kitchen has an old dresser, full size oven, microwave and fridge and is fully equipped. There is also a modern shower room. Guest access The cottage is exclusively yours with a bench and table and chairs on the terrace. Guest are free to explore the gardens of the manor house and there are more garden chairs down by the gazebo which provide a great view from the top of the ha ha over the front fields and south towards the Ceiriog Valley. There is undercover parking in the cart shed in the farmyard, only about 50 yards from the cottage. Other things to note There are four friendly dogs at Pennant, free range hens, ducks and geese in the orchard and around the farmstead, and mares and foals in the surrounding fields. The crog-loft bedroom is accessed via a steep winding wooden staircase and the double bed is low to the floor on a slim base so sorry to stay is not suitable for guests that have any mobility issues.
