Description
Situated in the eastern part of the island, at 500 m above sea, the house is built in the ridge of a cliff and offers a breathtaking panoramic view to Aegean archipelagos and Cyclades islands. Sitting in the veranda you can have multiple delightful moments, counting visible Cyclades islands, watching passing ships, waiting for the spectacular moonrise, gazing the stars in the dark nights… and planning next day adventures, i.e. swimming in the beautiful beaches or hiking in the ancient pathways. The space The house is built in a terrain of 2000 square meters and comprises two floors of 40 m2 each. The ground floor consists of a living/dining room with an open kitchen and a small WC. The kitchen is fully equipped. In the upper floor there are two bedrooms, each one with two single beds, which can be easily combined in a double bed. The bathroom is also situated in the first floor. The house is ideally suited for four guests. The main veranda, overlooking Aegean, is in the east side of the house. A nearby semi-closed veranda (‘Stegadi’) is well protected from the morning sun and the strong north winds. While offering the same view, Stegadi is the perfect place for taking breakfast under the shadow of the wattle roof, and is also an efficient shelter for the windy days. The backyard is looking towards the hilly landscape, full of oak trees. It is a house offering multiple delights to guests and friends. Being with Panos in the veranda, our favorite game is to count visible Cyclades islands in front of us. Are they 5, 8, 11, 12? The numbers change, depending on the visibility of the day. Dimitris favorite game is ship watching; he tries to identify the full trajectories of passing vessels and reconstitutes by his imagination their sea adventures. Miranda is always attracted by the pairs of falcons, who fly in perfect circles and suddenly dive in front of us in the cliffy valley. Sofia is never tired of gazing the galaxy and the falling stars in the dark nights in this area completely sheltered from any urban light pollution. In the days of full moon, we are all sitting in line, in front of the parapet, waiting for the big moment of the spectacular moonrise. And then, we lay the table in the veranda to enjoy our dinner under the light of rising moon. Guest access The house is equipped with central heating and is fully operational during the cooler months of the year. A fireplace in the living room offers the company of burning wood for the cool nights. A good choice for those who love Kea not only for the beautiful beaches, but also for hiking in the green hilly landscape, particularly attractive during autumn and spring. Kea has a well preserved network of old pathways, some of them ancient, connecting the four cities of antique Kea, i.e. Korissia, Ioulida, Piiessa (the present day Pisses) and Karthea. Other things to note Access:The house is built on the road to Orkos Beach, 25 min drive from the port of Korissia and 15 min from the beautiful Chora (Ioulis). The nearest beach, Orkos, is 3 km away. All the road from Korissia to our home and then to Orkos is asphalted. Many other beautiful beaches can be reached within a 20-25 min drive. Registration Details 00000379697
