The space Welcome to Strathisla tea estate bungalow in Sri Lanka The Full bungalow offers 4 large family size bedrooms all with ensuite and 2 double beds Built in 1860, Strathisla bungalow is situated in the highland hinterland of Matale - 1 hour from Kandy and the Knuckles mountains - where the days are warm and the nights refreshingly cool. Strathisla bungalow is now open to all as a charming guest house set on a working tea estate amidst tropical spice gardens. Whether its taking a dip in the local waterhole, exploring the local villages and surrounding tea country, hiking the Knuckle ranges or simply wiling the day away with endless cups of tea on the expansive verandah, Strathisla tea estate bungalow will be sure to provide all with relaxation and peace. For those feeling a little more adventurous, Strathisla guest house is perfectly positioned to enjoy day trips to all the major sites in the cultural triangle; Kandy being 50mins to the sth and Sigiria only 60mins to the nth. Despite its proximity to the major sites, Strathisla bungalow is located in an area completely off the tourist track and therefore makes it the perfect point from which to explore the breathtaking scenery of the highlands. ROOMS: there are 4 spacious bedrooms, each with 2 double beds and ensuite which can easily accommodate a family of 4 (maximum 2 adults and 2 children). Total capacity of the guesthouse is 16. All rooms are decorated in a colonial style and have superb views of the surrounding hill country. * Please note that extra beds can be brought in at $10 per child and $20 per adult (18 and over) FOOD: Breakfast is included in all room rates. Our superb cook specializes in the mouthwatering local and Southern Indian cuisine. A variety of western dishes and a childrens' menu is also available along with BBQ's by the pool. Tea and coffee are offered free of charge. Lunch is $8 per person - Dinner $12 per person ACTIVITIES: there are many interesting scenic walks around the local area as well as hiking in the Knuckles ranges. Along with swimming in the pool and the local waterhole, we also have a small basketball court and a large grassy area to play badminton or volleyball. There is a small library and games rack and the lounge room has satellite tv and a selection of dvds. Wifi is available free of charge. DIRECTIONS: Heading north along the A9 road from Kandy, take a right hand turn 3 kms before Matale up the Kandenuwara rd.(B461). Cross over the small railway bridge and head upto Alwatta (approx.6kms) to the 24km marker. 50 metres past the marker on the right is a small unsealed road which will take you to Strathisla.
