400years Relaxing Japan art mansion & food forest

Enter the house of a 20th generation local lord, enjoy privileged Japanese life. Staying at our renovated 400 years old property will allow you to get a good night’s rest in comfortable tatamis rooms, meditate in our Japanese garden, explore the city with our 2 bicycles & access tailored Nara suggestions you can't find online. This house features soothing nature views with garden birds, upscale furniture, art and "ittobori" wood carver works. All this just 15 minutes by bus from Nara station. The space The spacious 85 m² space where you stay is well-equipped and suitable for long-term and short-term stays. Some windows face the beautiful Japanese and forest gardens, the other ones face a traditional Japanese roofed courtyard. In the private tea room, Nara's traditional art work "Ichitobori" is exhibited. Other facilities include an office / living room with separate shower, toilet, kitchen and high-speed internet. The apartment, located on the entire second floor, is part of the main building and guests enter the premises through the main entrance. Owners typically use a different entrance on the other side of the house. There are two bicycles that we can lend. Please let us know if you need them. Jerome is French and has lived in Nara for several years. He is married with Hanako and has been living in the house since 2016. Since he arrived he renovated the house and created a food forest around it. You'll see Jerome working in a food forest following the permaculture principles. If you want to spend a mindful time in nature or try a hands-on permaculture gardening activity, let us know and we will arrange a private session. Guest access The second floor will be for you exclusively, you can also access the Japanese garden in the front. Other things to note We produce our own organic veggies around the house. If you are interested in tasting our tasty, slow growing, vitamins and minerals packed green treasures, a vegetable and herbs basket can be arranged for you. Since appetites and availability vary, we usually go pick the contents together and share on a donation basis. We also have two bicycle available that we can lend you. The bikes are shared with the family so please let us know in advance if you plan on using them. Registration Details M290020341
