In the middle of the Rio Grande Valley, this apartment sits on a 20-acre farm inhabited by green jays, altamira orioles, and a number of other unique subtropical birds. Hosts are familiar with wildlife and fly fishing venues. All of these places are within 25 miles radius. The space Next to our home is a two story apartment. The bottom floor has a large living area with a large couch, sitting area, pull out couch, a high definition television, and access to porch. The upstairs has a comfortable queen size bed, dining area, couch, high definition television and full kitchen. Guests are able to access the satellite internet system and digital and satellite entertainment system. The porch has a sitting area. When time allows the owners can provide information about local wildlife and fly fishing venues. Both owners are science educators and experienced naturalists. The area is primarily farmland and surrounded by mesquite, ash, hackberry, and native brush. Although there are a few well-known neighbors, the home and apartment are considered separate from intrusion. Access is through vehicle on a paved road. The property has a well-developed driveway which provides easy access to a secure and gated compound. Natural areas and fishing venues are within a short drive. Brownsville, Harlingen, and South Padre Island are all within a twenty mile radius. Refuges, world birding centers, and other natural sites are nearby. The furthest natural area would be the Roma Bluffs or Falcon State Park which are approximately an hour and a half drive. Guest access Guests are able to access the satellite internet system and digital and satellite entertainment system. The porch has a comfortable sitting area. Other things to note Usually not a problem, but when we have excessive rainfall, mosquitoes can be a problem for some. We have mosquito magnets, lights, and citronella lamps just in case. Bring insect repellent that meets your personal needs, if you are sensitive to mosquitoe bites.
