Located in the heart of Morningside, only a 15 minute bus ride to the centre of Edinburgh. Recently renovated, Hamish's is ideal for a couple, but can sleep four if needed. Enjoy staying in the heart of Edinburgh in a traditional Scottish tenement. The space This delightful traditional Scottish tenement flat has just been fully refurbished to a very high standard. It is situated on the second floor of the tenement and each level has 20 stairs. Not a big hike but I thought everyone should know that there are stairs to walk up. It has a very comfortable double bedroom and if four people are sharing they can enjoy the use of a double sofa bed in the lounge. It has a fully equipped kitchen with all mod cons including a dishwasher and washer / dryer. The delightful dining area creates a great space to enjoy eating, drinking and chatting. The shower room has the choice of power or rainfall shower heads. The cabinet above the wash hand basin has a power socket for shavers and ample LED lighting. We have free WIFI and internet access with direct ports in the lounge, bedroom and dining area. We also have USB charging ports in all three main areas. The TV has freeview and we also provide a DVD player. We have installed SONOS speakers in the bedroom and lounge so if you have a smart phone you can just download the SONOS app and play your own music. Guest access Guests will have the sole use of the entire flat and the small shared rear garden. The front door to the tenement has a secure door entry system. Guests will be provided with keys to access the building and the apartment. We also have a secure key safe system to enable guests to access the apartment during very late arrivals or in the rare event we are unable to meet guests. Other things to note Morningside is a fabulous place to be based in Edinburgh. Everything is at your door step. Supermarkets - M&S -Waitrose - Sainsbury's and a host of independent traders selling cheese, bakery goods, fresh fruit & vegetable, clothes butcher meat. All within a short walk from the flat. Morningside also boasts the very best charity shops in Scotland where there can be rich pickings in antiques and bric a brac. There is a well stocked antique shop about ten minutes walk from the flat that has been established for over 50 years. Well worth a visit if you have time. PARKING There is FREE on street parking on Morningside Drive and Balcarres Street This FREE parking is situated about a ten minute walk from the flat. Parking is available at the flat in the public parking bays. From 8.30am - 5.30pm it costs £2.00 per hour in the public parking bays (6 situated in the street & 6 just around the corner) There are many other public bays within a few minutes of the flat. You can only stay in a bay for a maximum of 4 hours. The car then has to be moved to another bay. Payment for parking can be made by using £1 coins or by smart phone - using the GORINGO app. This is much easier and they send you a text when you have only 10 minutes left to park. This saved me many times from getting a £30.00 parking fine !!!! If you plan to take your car into town for the day it is best to park in one of the many multi storey car parks. There is no limit of time on the parking and you do not have to move your car after four hours. As you get closer to the centre of the city the maximum time you can park on the street reduces in some places to 2 hours and the costs of parking are much higher per hour. The multi storeys are much more convenient. Also in the Summer the car will be kept cooler.
