Quaint, white washed walls, in trad style with all mod cons in idyllic tranquil surroundings of oak woods, hill tops and private lake. The space The Old Cottage, on the other end of the farm is in an extremely tranquil, idyllic, peaceful setting. It is over 200 years old, we renovated it ourselves in the traditional Irish style. Quaint and cosy with white washed walls, a traditional fire place, traditional design and all mod cons makes the Old Cottage an idyllic getaway. The Old Cottage is situated on a private 450 acre farm with laid out walking trails around our old oak woods, hilll tops and private lake. The Old Cottage has a master bedroom with en suite, a main bathroom, a double room and a loft bedroom with two beds connected to the living room. There is a patio area with outdoor furniture for bbqs in the summer and a turf fire to snuggle up to on cooler nights. Visited and revisited numerous times from all over the world, winning numerous awards, Fairymount Farm en-captures as our guests tell us time and time again 'something magical' . Staying in one of our cottages is not only a great base for touring Ireland but it is a way of actually experiencing the real Ireland, with heritage sites and a largely untouched landscape at your doorstep. Though if you feel like just staying at home for a day why not avail of what is at your doorstep and head out on our own award winning farm walks and trails. While staying at Fairymount Farm you can avail of our 5 well laid out path and trails across this land, taking you through rich forests, sunken oak trees, up to the top of our 700 foot hill Knockshegowna (known through Irish legend as the fairy hill) past horses and sheep and all forms of Irish wildlife. These walks take you past archaeological sites; ring forts (dating as far as 2000 years old), a fulachta fiadh and we even have a crannog (400 AD) on site. Wonderful sunsets!
