Newly renovated apartment located above a busy restaurant called Rye (IG @ryebarandrestaurant). Well appointed, modern, and clean. The space This building was home to an Elmira institution, Bus Horigans, since the 1950’s. Generations of people have filled the downstairs with laughter, food, and drink, most not even realizing that there were apartments above the restaurant. Originally, this floor consisted of one large apartment for the Horigan family…legend had it they floated out by canoe in the flood of ‘72! Bus sold the building and it’s been in several hands before it landed in mine is 2019. The building was completely renovated in 2019 to 2021. We brought all three 2-bedroom apartments on the second floor of this historic building back to the studs and rebuilt them to modern standards. All three were decorated in different styles: unit 1 is the 'retro' unit, unit 2 is the 'modern' unit, and unit 3 is the 'traditional' unit. Except for the surface design all three have all the same amenities and the same level of comfort. The first floor of the building does contain a busy restaurant that does make some noise while it's open...but it's nothing extreme. While we ARE always conscious downstairs of keeping you happy, it is part of being in a multi-unit building with other things happening. While we have had a couple (literally) comments or complaints about restaurant noise, in general people have given feedback that it's nothing out of the ordinary for being above a restaurant and in no way is it disagreeable! The noisiest it might get is during the summer when we have music outside on the patio but that is always over by 9pm. Guest access There is a parking lot on the property and if it is full there is plenty of on-street parking in the neighborhood (the city does practice odd-even parking rules: park on the odd side on odd days for street cleaning and plowing). In addition to Rye downstairs, we are within a few blocks of other restaurants and our 'downtown' area. Walking versus driving is really a personal preference and your comfort level. Please always be safe whatever you do! Please let us know the make and model of your car as well as the license plate. There is a small sitting porch near the back entry/exit and nearest Apartment C that is intended for all three apartments. Other things to note I will send you a four digit code either the day before or day of your check in so you can use that to enter the exterior doors or your apartment.
