Description
Remote, tranquil, quiet and exceedingly private getaway right on the banks of a protected river, only 1.5 hours from the Twin Cities! Even the beautiful drive there is relaxing. Enter a world of peace and calm deep in the woods. Make delicious meals in a well-stocked modern high-end kitchen, play in the river, relax in the sauna or enjoy a bonfire. This is not your typical cabin but a spiritual eco-oasis with a unique eclectic blend of modern, rustic, Native American and Japanese aesthetic. The space Modern yet rustic, but not at all primitive, the cabin was built not only for maximum energy-efficiency, but with much care in providing a safe, non-toxic, all-natural environment. Start your journey with the beautiful scenic drive from the Twin Cities. Our long winding driveway leads to secluded, heavily wooded grounds that have many Japanese garden touches but are kept in a mostly natural state. This extremely tranquil and private setting is the perfect location for personal retreats for artists, writers, yoga practitioners, people in the healing arts or anyone in need of personal, spiritual or artistic creative rejuvenation. The cabin is ideally suited to singles and couples looking a quiet getaway or personal retreat. Perfect for a romantic getaway! Comfortable sleeping spaces are provided with several options including a small private bedroom, a large futon in the living room under the skylights by the wood stove, or a small futon on the screen porch by the bank of the river. Facilities include a large well-stocked high-end kitchen with 6 burner professional stove, full bathroom with hot and cold running water and claw-foot tub (there is enough hot water for a hot shower but not enough to fill the tub, unless heated supplementally on the stove). The cabin has electricity, gas heat, AC, reliable high-speed fiber-optic wireless, wood-burning stove (firewood provided), gas grill, 5 skylights, newly re-built wood-fired sauna (firewood provided), screen porch right on the river bank, attached wooden deck overlooking the river, hammock, fire-pit with lots of fire wood, book and photo library and more. A guest favorite is the high-resolution audio system with turntable and extensive CD and vinyl collection; also wireless music streaming capabilities. Throughout the cabin there is also original art work (no generic crap!), sculpture and hand-made pottery. We want to surround you with beauty and meaning while immersing your soul in nature! This forest oasis alongside a protected trout stream is surrounded by hundreds of heavily wooded acres. Enjoy the rarity of total privacy- no one else on the property or within sight or sound! The Trade River is very clean with a nice shallow, sand bottom- perfect for swimming, wading or frolicking. Or just sunbathe on the dock, clothing optional! To maintain a retreat-like atmosphere we only allow one or two guests at a time. I like to keep it available for solo retreats and couples rather than larger groups. There is also a separate hand-built log cabin on the premises, very close by. The log cabin will not be occupied during your stay but if you want to bring one or two friends or experience sleeping in a real log cabin (most all are built from kits) it can be rented additionally on Airbnb under 'Authentic Log Cabin'. "Retreat to move forward" -Pico Iyer Guest access The whole house and extensive grounds, trails, river and 10 acres of woods surrounded by hundreds of acres of wilderness. There is a turnaround to unload groceries etc. at the end of the driveway, then move your car to the nearby parking spaces, where you won't have to see your car again until you leave. There are no other units or other guests on the property and no neighbors within sight or sound. You will have the whole house, river and grounds to yourself! Other things to note Please know that this is my personal, much beloved cabin, not an anonymous rental unit.
